OFCC Sues City of Cleveland Heights, Ohio The sign you see here is posted in Cleveland Heights Parks implying possession of a firearm is a crime. On Friday August 12th, 2011 Ohioans For Concealed Carry Filed a lawsuit against the City the City of Cleveland Heights. The litigation comes after many attempts to resolve concerns over laws that Cleveland Heights not only allowed to remain on their books, but also posted signs at their parks that continue to imply it is illegal to be armed. The City of Cleveland Heights has chosen to ignore our attempts at civil discourse. When individuals have contacted them representing themselves as residents of the City of Cleveland Heights their concerns apparently fell on deaf ears. When representatives of the organization have formally contacted the city's legal representation they've been laughed at and hung up on by the Law Director. It is this arrogance and refusal to work with Ohioans For Concealed Carry that has forced us to seek a remedy through the courts.
Our press release follows.

Ashcroft/NRA don't advocate guns for criminals (duh!)

In a Jan. 13 letter to the editors of the Cleveland Plain Dealer Lois Goulder suggested that John Ashcroft endosed a right-to-carry referendum which will make it possible for convicted criminals to carry concealed firearms. It's people like Toby Hoover (see below) who convince people of this silly mentality when it comes to right to carry reform laws... You can find the rebuttal right here and the original above. (or Read on for the text of the rebuttal) The Cleveland Plain Dealer editors have the power to edit such letters -- So why don't they remove the lies? Source: Cleveland Plain Dealer

Ashcroft, NRA don’t advocate guns for criminals

Wednesday, January 17, 2001

In the Jan. 13 letter to the editor "Sen. Voinovich should oppose Ashcroft bid," Lois Goulder stated that John Ashcroft supported a right-to-carry referendum "that would have allowed the carrying of concealed handguns by convicted criminals." This is completely false.

Background checks would have been required before any permit was issued. Besides, criminals already carry concealed handguns in Ohio and around the country. Criminals have no respect for the law, including gun laws. They are cowards. They want to prey on helpless victims who will not harm them. What they do respect is an armed citizen who could stop their crimes.

Right-to-carry laws have lowered crime across this country, and Ashcroft should be applauded for his trust in the people of Missouri on this issue. Sen. George Voinovich should support his nomination.
