OFCC Sues City of Cleveland Heights, Ohio The sign you see here is posted in Cleveland Heights Parks implying possession of a firearm is a crime. On Friday August 12th, 2011 Ohioans For Concealed Carry Filed a lawsuit against the City the City of Cleveland Heights. The litigation comes after many attempts to resolve concerns over laws that Cleveland Heights not only allowed to remain on their books, but also posted signs at their parks that continue to imply it is illegal to be armed. The City of Cleveland Heights has chosen to ignore our attempts at civil discourse. When individuals have contacted them representing themselves as residents of the City of Cleveland Heights their concerns apparently fell on deaf ears. When representatives of the organization have formally contacted the city's legal representation they've been laughed at and hung up on by the Law Director. It is this arrogance and refusal to work with Ohioans For Concealed Carry that has forced us to seek a remedy through the courts.
Our press release follows.

Canton PD Event Leads to New OFCC Legislation When officer Harless of the Canton, Ohio police department came upon a vehicle stopped in the roadway most of us were focused on getting restaurant carry legislation signed into law. What took place that evening has become an international viral video, calls for the resignation of the City Council president, and criminal charges against a man who is clearly heard trying to state that he has a license. Ohioans For Concealed Carry has not just raised thousands of dollars in a legal defense fund, but we've written legislation to resolve this matter that Representative Danny Bubp has stated he's going to introduce this fall Read the Full Story

OFCC mailing list changes and additions

Those of you who have been with us for the long-term know we've offered two mailing lists since May of 1999. We eventually started offering a "digest" version of each list in an effort to give some people a way to avoid the high-volumes of email. Lately we've noticed a lot of people join and leave, so we've come up with some changes. Everyone should read this news ASAP as we've created a new list everyone (and I mean everyone) should join today. Please read on... Originally we intended for ccw-talk to be low volume and gun-talk to be high volume "gun" discussion. The complete opposite has remained the norm since day one. gun-talk has less than 1/3rd the members ccw-talk has, and gun-talk is merely a duplicate post recipient for all ccw-talk email. Too many people join and leave gun-talk, so we have decided to take it out of service effective March 31st, 2001. You can unsubscribe now, or you can wait it out if you'd like.

Effective immediately OFCC now offers the following new mailing list named: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. -- This list, unlike any other list we host, is simply a distribution only list. Anyone may join this list, but only a select few individuals will be posting to the list. We are aiming to post between 1 and 5 messages to this list per month, with slightly more during political activity. Messages to this list will be of the important action item or "news" nature. For instance, all warnings about house or senate hearings will go to this list.

The idea is to create a list where literally anyone in the State can join and get information about our cause and immediate needs without following ccw-talk on a daily, weekly, or even monthly basis. The goal is to get everyone we know to join this list. I would like to see the distribution over 500 in a perfect scenario.

In order to make joining our mailing lists easier we have removed (as a trial) all needs to go through the authentication reply structure. Simply sending the appropriate email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. will subscribe you (for free, of course) to the list. To make things even easier for the non-savvy computer user we have provided links on our website (left column, every page) that simply create the email message for you if your computer is setup to handle mailto: links. It's rather impressive, all you have to do is click and push send.

What about CCW-TALK!?

I knew this would come up. Absolutely nothing is happening to CCW-TALK. We will continue to utilize this great accomplishment of OFCC in it's current form. The only change we've made to ccw-talk is the authentication step -- new subscribers simply don't have to authenticate to join anymore. The digest version of ccw-talk should work as well, but the digest version of gun-talk is going away with gun-talk.

There will be no digest version of ccw-alert since the nature of alerts is to be immediate and low in volume.

Also -- we have the ability to make messages posted to ccw-alert automatically go to all ccw-talk members, but we are not going to do that. This doesn't mean someone won't cross post a message between ccw-talk and ccw-alert (it probably WILL happen) -- but if you want to be on ccw-alert you need to manually join it as soon as possible!

Why did we do this? Too many people, some of them long-term members, are leaving ccw-talk due to long threads or bitter opinion disputes. ccw-alert will allow people to stay up to date on the events of the organization without dealing with a "high level of noise". We respect the fact that many people can not keep up on ccw-talk, so ccw-alert is neccesary. We also hope to have gun show staffers start collecting email addresses and adding people to the list.

The entire mailing list directions page has been updated, too: Mailing List Directions
