OFCC Sues City of Cleveland Heights, Ohio The sign you see here is posted in Cleveland Heights Parks implying possession of a firearm is a crime. On Friday August 12th, 2011 Ohioans For Concealed Carry Filed a lawsuit against the City the City of Cleveland Heights. The litigation comes after many attempts to resolve concerns over laws that Cleveland Heights not only allowed to remain on their books, but also posted signs at their parks that continue to imply it is illegal to be armed. The City of Cleveland Heights has chosen to ignore our attempts at civil discourse. When individuals have contacted them representing themselves as residents of the City of Cleveland Heights their concerns apparently fell on deaf ears. When representatives of the organization have formally contacted the city's legal representation they've been laughed at and hung up on by the Law Director. It is this arrogance and refusal to work with Ohioans For Concealed Carry that has forced us to seek a remedy through the courts.
Our press release follows.

Gun Extremists Pushing To Kill HB274

The anti-gun extremists are at it again. In a press release carried by the anti-gun "Join Together", the Ohio Coalition Against Gun Violence (as if we're not all against violence in general) has issued a press release urging people to call their Senators.

Sit back and ask yourself this: Will the OCAGV press release get more coverage than the PR OFCC issues last week? Of course. So you need to make more phone calls NOW:

  • Richard Finan, Senate President: (614) 466-9737
  • Jeff Jacobson, Committee Chairman: (614) 466-4538
  • David Goodman: (614) 466-8064
  • Louis Blessing: (614) 466-8068
  • Steve Austria: (614) 466-3780
  • Ben Espy: (614) 466-5131
  • Ron Amstutz: (614) 466-7505
  • Eric Fingerhut: (614) 466-4583
  • Leigh Herington: (614) 466-7041
  • Jay Hottinger: (614) 466-5838

Call the Governor and tell him to pass CCW even if it means he refuses to sign a bill without the FOP's support. It'll become law 10 days later. 614-466-3555

Then, use THIS TOOL to identify the number of your senator. Call them. Tell every Senator or office you speak to that you want them to defeat the FOP's anti-gun amendments. Make sure you use our tool to write a letter as well, we'll fax it and email it for you tonight!

Here is a link To the OCAGV Press Release on the "Join Together" website. See what effort they're going to, and decide how much effort you'll put forth. This news must be spread with everyone you know.

Ironically, the OCAGV's worst fears are about to happen: The State of Ohio FOP is adding changes to HB274 and will likely endorse the legislation. If that happens, the anti-gun extremists will lose a big hole in their argument that police don't like concealed carry. The irony is that both of us don't want to see those changes, because The FOP will gut this legislation heavily and nobody will like the end result.

Do you want to obtain a license to carry for each gun you own? Do you want to be forced to take a test or training for each gun you own? Do you think its affordable to have to go to 20 or more hours of training classes?
