OFCC Sues City of Cleveland Heights, Ohio The sign you see here is posted in Cleveland Heights Parks implying possession of a firearm is a crime. On Friday August 12th, 2011 Ohioans For Concealed Carry Filed a lawsuit against the City the City of Cleveland Heights. The litigation comes after many attempts to resolve concerns over laws that Cleveland Heights not only allowed to remain on their books, but also posted signs at their parks that continue to imply it is illegal to be armed. The City of Cleveland Heights has chosen to ignore our attempts at civil discourse. When individuals have contacted them representing themselves as residents of the City of Cleveland Heights their concerns apparently fell on deaf ears. When representatives of the organization have formally contacted the city's legal representation they've been laughed at and hung up on by the Law Director. It is this arrogance and refusal to work with Ohioans For Concealed Carry that has forced us to seek a remedy through the courts.
Our press release follows.

Fifth Third Bank: Lost another loan to common sense!

OFCC Senate Disctrict 14 Coordinator Rick Jones recently recently received a letter of congratulations from Mr. J. Scott Nagle, senior vice-president of Fifth Third, regarding the pay-off of his vehicle loan. Rick responded to say that he, a customer of 30 years, has closed all accounts with Fifth Third Bank. Nagle has not yet responded.

RE: Account# XXXXXXXXXXX

Dear J. Scott Nagle,

Thank you for the congratulatory note of 28, December 2004 but I don't think I'll be able to partake of the .25% discount you have offered on any further business transactions. Today I have finally severed all ties with Fifth Third. For over 30 years I dealt with the same business location in Portsmouth, at first it was Security Central then Fifth Third took over. During this time span I have had numerous car loans, checking accounts, savings accounts, short-term loans, and a safety deposit box.

In mid-April of 2004 I called the local office of Fifth Third and made inquiry of why they had decided to post a sign stating "no guns" on the door and I was immediately blasted with "it's for the safety of our customers" type of statement. The party I spoke with was very rude, angry, and was not very helpful at all. This woman not only seemed upset but also was very upsetting to me. I then decided that after this call I would be determined to cease doing business with Fifth Third as soon as I could. Mr. Nagle during 2004 I managed to pay off one auto loan six months early and one auto loan one year early with a $150 penalty for early payoff. My checking account, and savings have been changed also.

Because of the "unsafe environment" of doing business with Fifth Third, not only have you lost my business but I have refinanced my home, opened a home equity loan, changed savings accounts, and changed checking accounts to a more friendly, safer bank that does not discriminate against licensed law-abiding citizens who wish to exercise their rights for self protection and that is to legally carry a concealed handgun.

I wish you well in your future endeavors, but not with my help or with my financial affairs.

Sincerely,

Rick Jones
