OFCC Sues City of Cleveland Heights, Ohio The sign you see here is posted in Cleveland Heights Parks implying possession of a firearm is a crime. On Friday August 12th, 2011 Ohioans For Concealed Carry Filed a lawsuit against the City the City of Cleveland Heights. The litigation comes after many attempts to resolve concerns over laws that Cleveland Heights not only allowed to remain on their books, but also posted signs at their parks that continue to imply it is illegal to be armed. The City of Cleveland Heights has chosen to ignore our attempts at civil discourse. When individuals have contacted them representing themselves as residents of the City of Cleveland Heights their concerns apparently fell on deaf ears. When representatives of the organization have formally contacted the city's legal representation they've been laughed at and hung up on by the Law Director. It is this arrogance and refusal to work with Ohioans For Concealed Carry that has forced us to seek a remedy through the courts.

Canton PD Event Leads to New OFCC Legislation When officer Harless of the Canton, Ohio police department came upon a vehicle stopped in the roadway most of us were focused on getting restaurant carry legislation signed into law. Criminals in the Columbus area are proving yet again that we are no longer safe in our homes. The police are also proving still that they cannot be there to protect us - only to clean up after the crime.

College Students Beaten, Robbed
    A pair of Capital University students living off-campus were tied up, beaten and had their cellular phones and credit cards stolen by a couple of men who were apparently looking for drugs.

    When one of the students awoke, he could barely believe what was happening. He said he was being pushed face-first into a pillow.

    "I was duct taped with my hands behind my back and my legs together with pillows over my head and told if I moved I was going to die," said the student.

    The two men ransacked the house, taking electronics, wallets and credit cards, Bowersock reported.

    The two were pistol-whipped repeatedly as the thieves continually asked for cocaine.

Men Pistol-Whip Homeowner, Hide Inside Other Home
    Police said three men broke into a home located on Geers Avenue on the city's southeast side at about 12:30 a.m. and demanded money from the man who lived there, who police identified as Lawrence M. King, Jr.

    When King, 20, said he did not have any money, he was choked and struck several times in the head with guns while the suspects searched his pockets, police said. The men drove off in a white Buick, McPeek reported.

    The men ended up in a home a few blocks away on Stanley Avenue. At about the time the men arrived, the man who lived in that house came home, McPeek reported.

    This story goes on to say that after about two hours with the SWAT team surrounding the house a cousin of the man who lived there was able to talk everyone into coming out. The three men were taken into custody.

Women Flee, Man fights Off Attackers
    Police investigated a home invasion on the city's southeast side Saturday where a resident put up a fight forcing the attackers to run off.

    Two men busted inside the home at about 1 p.m. wearing ski masks and brandishing guns, police said.

    Officers said three adult women escaped with an infant and called for help, while one man stayed inside and fought with the men, stabbing them with a knife. The attackers then ran off.
Despite calls to the police after the fact, they did not arrive until after these criminals had already terrorized their victims. While one man was able to fend off his attackers with a knife the others were pistol-whipped and choked during these brutal home invasions. Luckily these victims survived to tell their stories.

Let these three incidents be a reminder that only you can be prepared to defend your family and your home against these type of attacks.
