OFCC Sues City of Cleveland Heights, Ohio
The sign you see here is posted in Cleveland Heights Parks implying possession of a firearm is a crime.
On Friday August 12th, 2011 Ohioans For Concealed Carry Filed a lawsuit against the City the City of Cleveland Heights. The litigation comes after many attempts to resolve concerns over laws that Cleveland Heights not only allowed to remain on their books, but also posted signs at their parks that continue to imply it is illegal to be armed. The City of Cleveland Heights has chosen to ignore our attempts at civil discourse. When individuals have contacted them representing themselves as residents of the City of Cleveland Heights their concerns apparently fell on deaf ears. When representatives of the organization have formally contacted the city's legal representation they've been laughed at and hung up on by the Law Director. It is this arrogance and refusal to work with Ohioans For Concealed Carry that has forced us to seek a remedy through the courts.

Canton PD Event Leads to New OFCC Legislation
When officer Harless of the Canton, Ohio police department came upon a vehicle stopped in the roadway most of us were focused on getting restaurant carry legislation signed into law.
What took place that evening has become an international viral video, calls for the resignation of the City Council president, and criminal charges against a man who is clearly heard trying to state that he has a license.
Ohioans For Concealed Carry has not just raised thousands of dollars in a legal defense fund, but we've written legislation to resolve this matter that Representative Danny Bubp has stated he's going to introduce this fall

Toby Hoover Goes Ballistic

Commentary by Larry S. Moore, OFCC Senate District 10 Coordinator:
Reports are coming in from across the state, and even the nation, regarding the NRA's announcement to pull the 2007 NRA Convention from Columbus. This is in the wake of the recent passage of what Columbus City Council terms an "assault weapon ban". Anyone who has read the bill understands that this bans a lot of firearms including certain shotguns and handguns. The banning of handguns includes models often used for personal protection and concealed carry.
Additionally Rep. Jim Aslanides (R-Coshocton) has stepped forward announcing the introduction of legislation to clarify and correct faulty language within Ohio's concealed carry law. Part of this clarification is the pre-emption clause to prevent cities from enacting a myriad of laws that would make it impossible for the average citizen to know what to do when traveling with firearms, let alone effectively limiting our rights to self-defense and concealed carry.
Firearms owners and pro-gun groups have hailed the news announcements by the NRA and Rep. Aslanides across Ohio.
Ohio Coalition Against Gun Violence's Toby Hoover and other anti-gun groups greeted the NRA news with much excitement as they whipped themselves into their usual frenzy of NRA and gun hatred. Hoover has been quoted in many stories calling the NRA "bullies" and their members "extreme fringe elements". Hoover, and the Violence Policy Center, spewed forth their fraudulent statistics to anyone in the press with a microphone, camera or note pad. Never mind the facts in the case as raving hysteria seems to get more press attention.
Rep. Aslanides legislation, while hailed by pro-concealed carry and self defense advocates, is like sticking a hot poker in the eye of a sleeping wild cat. Hoover, and other anti-gun organizations, pulled out all the stops to defeat Ohio's concealed carry legislation. The wildcat woman has her hair up and her mouth charged for an all out assault on this legislation.
Gun owners, now is the time to arm yourself with information, and be ready to get into the upcoming battle. Hoover has thrown down the gauntlet to Ohio's gun owners by continuing to label us as bullies, extremists and fringe elements. I am calling on my brother and sister gun owners to join Ohioans For Concealed Carry, join the NRA, and be part of the continued fight. We can win another fight for our rights. Failure will mean turning our freedoms over to Toby Hoover who will scratch them to pieces in her claws!
