OFCC Sues City of Cleveland Heights, Ohio
The sign you see here is posted in Cleveland Heights Parks implying possession of a firearm is a crime.
On Friday August 12th, 2011 Ohioans For Concealed Carry Filed a lawsuit against the City the City of Cleveland Heights. The litigation comes after many attempts to resolve concerns over laws that Cleveland Heights not only allowed to remain on their books, but also posted signs at their parks that continue to imply it is illegal to be armed. The City of Cleveland Heights has chosen to ignore our attempts at civil discourse. When individuals have contacted them representing themselves as residents of the City of Cleveland Heights their concerns apparently fell on deaf ears. When representatives of the organization have formally contacted the city's legal representation they've been laughed at and hung up on by the Law Director. It is this arrogance and refusal to work with Ohioans For Concealed Carry that has forced us to seek a remedy through the courts.

Canton PD Event Leads to New OFCC Legislation
When officer Harless of the Canton, Ohio police department came upon a vehicle stopped in the roadway most of us were focused on getting restaurant carry legislation signed into law.
What took place that evening has become an international viral video, calls for the resignation of the City Council president, and criminal charges against a man who is clearly heard trying to state that he has a license.
Ohioans For Concealed Carry has not just raised thousands of dollars in a legal defense fund, but we've written legislation to resolve this matter that Representative Danny Bubp has stated he's going to introduce this fall

The weather in Liberty Township couldn't have been better for Ohioans For Concealed Carry's second annual gathering.
Updated: How could we have possible forgotten to mention the two people who made this picnic a success for the second year in a row? Well, we did. Please join us in congratulating Gerard Valentino and Ken Hanson for their amazing contributions and efforts in spearheading this event.
A record number of supporters attended our second Party In The Park this past Saturday in Liberty Township. This year our guests were given the opportunity to hear a record number of statewide candidates address the crowd, including:
Attorney General Jim Petro, running for Governor of the State of Ohio, and his running mate Phil Heimlich. Representative Jim Trakas, running for the office of Secretary of State. Senator Tim Grendell, running for the office of Attorney General. John Mitchell, running for Mike Dewine's seat in the U.S. Senate.
Jim Petro spoke for approximately twenty-five minutes, and all of the other candidates were given a few minutes to speak. Links to the recordings are provided below in this story.
More than forty-five door prizes in all were given away to the crowd, including multiple holsters, laser sights, gift certificates, and endless firearms accessories.
Special thanks to those companies that made major donations for this event, and to each of the volunteers who help us procure those donations this year. We all understand that giving away products isn't how these companies stay in business, so please partronize those businesses that helped Ohioans For Concealed Carry this year!
This year's grand prize was a Springfield Armory Mil-Spec 1911-A1, contributed by Springfield Armory. The first ticket drawn was for OFCC's long-time volunteer Jim Wilson, who was inelligble* to win our big ticket door prizes due to his involvement with OFCC, but he will be getting something for drawing the winning ticket at a later date.
The next ticket drawn for the Springfield was that of OFCC Member Marwan Nusair. Marwan was thrilled to walk away with a brand new 1911 handgun!
Special thanks to OFCC's Collin Rink for procuring this year's Grand Prize, and the Powder Room in Powell (minutes from the park) for helping us transfer the 1911 to this year's winner.
For the benefit of those who couldn't make it to this year's event, OFCC has recorded all of the speakers in Windows Media format, presented below in the order they appeared.
Please note that each of these recordings is copyright 2005 by Ohioans For Concealed Carry. Copying or distributing these recordings without written permission from OFCC is prohibited. Please feel free to link directly to this story's URL.
