OFCC Sues City of Cleveland Heights, Ohio The sign you see here is posted in Cleveland Heights Parks implying possession of a firearm is a crime. On Friday August 12th, 2011 Ohioans For Concealed Carry Filed a lawsuit against the City the City of Cleveland Heights. The litigation comes after many attempts to resolve concerns over laws that Cleveland Heights not only allowed to remain on their books, but also posted signs at their parks that continue to imply it is illegal to be armed. The City of Cleveland Heights has chosen to ignore our attempts at civil discourse. When individuals have contacted them representing themselves as residents of the City of Cleveland Heights their concerns apparently fell on deaf ears. When representatives of the organization have formally contacted the city's legal representation they've been laughed at and hung up on by the Law Director. It is this arrogance and refusal to work with Ohioans For Concealed Carry that has forced us to seek a remedy through the courts.
Our press release follows.

Coloumbus Area Auto Parts Stores Targets of Robbery

Commentary By Larry S. Moore, OFCC Senate District 10 Coordinator

NBC4, Columbus, is reporting that area auto parts stories are being targeted for robbery. According to the store there have been 11 robberies in the Columbus area.

This story follows a number of auto parts stories robberies and burglaries in the Dayton area earlier in the summer where the same corporations, Advance Auto Parts and Auto Zone, were also the targets. The Advance Auto Parts and Auto Zone stores that I have checked in the Dayton and Xenia area are not posted.

Whether there are any connections between the Dayton area and Columbus robberies remains to be seen.

What can be seen from the NBC4 reports is the need for the CHL holder to always be prepared and carrying. Many CHL holders indicate they will only carry when they feel the need. Many errands to the grocery store or auto parts store are hastily decided trips without concern for becoming a crime victim. These reports clearly show that crime does happen anyplace and anytime.

From the story:
"There's usually two to three suspects, male, black, 16 and early 20s. They come in, have a handgun, (and) ask for cash from the registers," said Sgt. Shaun Laird, of the Columbus Police Robbery Squad.

It's not clear why this type of store is being targeted, Walston reported. Police said the robbers aren't taking auto parts.

"All at once, we're having stores hit with the same basic description and same basic actions," Laird said. "Whether this is several different groups or one group with a lot of members we are unsure yet."

Stores are hanging up posters of the thieves in hopes someone will recognize them.
