OFCC Sues City of Cleveland Heights, Ohio The sign you see here is posted in Cleveland Heights Parks implying possession of a firearm is a crime. On Friday August 12th, 2011 Ohioans For Concealed Carry Filed a lawsuit against the City the City of Cleveland Heights. The litigation comes after many attempts to resolve concerns over laws that Cleveland Heights not only allowed to remain on their books, but also posted signs at their parks that continue to imply it is illegal to be armed. The City of Cleveland Heights has chosen to ignore our attempts at civil discourse. When individuals have contacted them representing themselves as residents of the City of Cleveland Heights their concerns apparently fell on deaf ears. When representatives of the organization have formally contacted the city's legal representation they've been laughed at and hung up on by the Law Director. It is this arrogance and refusal to work with Ohioans For Concealed Carry that has forced us to seek a remedy through the courts.
Our press release follows.

Canton PD Event Leads to New OFCC Legislation When officer Harless of the Canton, Ohio police department came upon a vehicle stopped in the roadway most of us were focused on getting restaurant carry legislation signed into law. What took place that evening has become an international viral video, calls for the resignation of the City Council president, and criminal charges against a man who is clearly heard trying to state that he has a license. Looters stealing guns in New Orleans; Officer shot in head

As if the images and stories out of New Orleans were not enough to turn your stomach, looters are taking to the streets and robbing area stores of their firearms -- not to defend themselves, but to loot and kill people in a city clearly turning for the worst.

According to the Associated Press (via Newsnet5.com):
NEW ORLEANS -- The top Homeland Security official in New Orleans said bands of gunmen are roaming through New Orleans.

Terry Ebbert said looters have been breaking into stores all over town to steal guns. The Times-Picayune newspaper reported that the gun section at a new Wal-Mart has been cleaned out. And the thieves are apparently using their new guns, with shots heard through the night.

Guns aren't the only things drawing the thieves. People commandeered a forklift in high ground to lift storm shutters and break the glass of a Rite-Aid pharmacy. A crowd stormed the store, carrying ice, water and food.
Proving yet again that you are responsible for your own safety, New Orleans police have admitted that their presence is "scarce" and that one officer has already been shot in the head by a looter:
What police presence there is in New Orleans and Biloxi, Miss., isn't slowing down looters.

A police spokesman in New Orleans said a police officer was shot in the head by a looter, but he's expected to recover.
Our prayers and sympathy go out to those who have been victims of this devastation. We encourage our supporters to get involved in the relief efforts in anyway you deem appropriate. If you are aware of any non-profit organizations that will be contributing directly to the needy without any overwhelming anti-gun policy, Ohioans For Concealed carry would like to hear from you.
