OFCC Sues City of Cleveland Heights, Ohio The sign you see here is posted in Cleveland Heights Parks implying possession of a firearm is a crime. On Friday August 12th, 2011 Ohioans For Concealed Carry Filed a lawsuit against the City the City of Cleveland Heights. The litigation comes after many attempts to resolve concerns over laws that Cleveland Heights not only allowed to remain on their books, but also posted signs at their parks that continue to imply it is illegal to be armed. The City of Cleveland Heights has chosen to ignore our attempts at civil discourse. When individuals have contacted them representing themselves as residents of the City of Cleveland Heights their concerns apparently fell on deaf ears. When representatives of the organization have formally contacted the city's legal representation they've been laughed at and hung up on by the Law Director. It is this arrogance and refusal to work with Ohioans For Concealed Carry that has forced us to seek a remedy through the courts.
Our press release follows.

Rob Ludeman elected Toledo City Council President

Ohioans For Concealed Carry has learned that Rob Ludeman has been elected to President of the Toledo City Council in a 6-4-1 tally after four rounds of voting.

Every other member of the council is a Democrat, but there appears to be a rift among the council Democrats and Ludeman has proven he isn't just accepted -- he's respected by both his peers on the council as well as by the newly elected Mayor of Toledo, Carty Finkbeiner. Finkbeiner was the driving force behind most of Toledo's ill-advised gun control legislation during his previous term as Mayor.

OFCC endorsed Ludeman's run for Mayor of Toledo and strongly encouraged our members and supporters to get behind his campaign last August...

Candidate Profile: Rob Ludeman, candidate for Toledo Mayor

Accord to a WTOL-TV story:
Democrat Wilma Brown and Ludeman basically went head to head Tuesday night. After four rounds of voting, Ludeman won.

Reaction from some democrats has been strong. New council member Mark Sobczak and councilman Bob McCloskey, both democrats, voted for Ludeman and helped put him in the president's seat.

Other democrats said they'll be able to work with Ludeman, but there's long been talk of an "A" team and "B" team separation within local democrats. "For the 'B' team democrats to find more comfort with conservative republicans I think it speaks a lot about the so-called leadership of the Lucas County Democratic Party," said councilman and democrat Frank Szollosi.
We congratulate Rob Ludeman on his new found title and hope that he can prevent the City of Toledo from making further knee jerk ordinances aimed to demonize and restrict law abiding gun owners in Toledo.
