OFCC Sues City of Cleveland Heights, Ohio The sign you see here is posted in Cleveland Heights Parks implying possession of a firearm is a crime. On Friday August 12th, 2011 Ohioans For Concealed Carry Filed a lawsuit against the City the City of Cleveland Heights. The litigation comes after many attempts to resolve concerns over laws that Cleveland Heights not only allowed to remain on their books, but also posted signs at their parks that continue to imply it is illegal to be armed. The City of Cleveland Heights has chosen to ignore our attempts at civil discourse. When individuals have contacted them representing themselves as residents of the City of Cleveland Heights their concerns apparently fell on deaf ears. When representatives of the organization have formally contacted the city's legal representation they've been laughed at and hung up on by the Law Director. It is this arrogance and refusal to work with Ohioans For Concealed Carry that has forced us to seek a remedy through the courts.
Our press release follows.
Canton PD Event Leads to New OFCC Legislation When officer Harless of the Canton, Ohio police department came upon a vehicle stopped in the roadway most of us were focused on getting restaurant carry legislation signed into law. What took place that evening has become an international viral video, calls for the resignation of the City Council president, and criminal charges against a man who is clearly heard trying to state that he has a license. Ohioans For Concealed Carry has not just raised thousands of dollars in a legal defense fund, but we've written legislation to resolve this matter that Representative Danny Bubp has stated he's going to introduce this fall

The sun was shining, the birds were singing, and the bullets were flying at the Second Annual OFCC/TDI Fun 'n Gun fundraiser!

Sixty OFCC members joined OFCC staff at the Tactical Defense Institute, located in West Union, Ohio, for our annual PAC fundraiser Sunday, April 2, 2006. John Benner, founder of TDI, donated use of his facility and time for this fun event. Several of John's instructors teamed up with Randy Bueche and his team of IDPA shooters and volunteered their time to help make the day a huge success.

With temperatures exceeding 70 degrees at times, TDI came alive on this early spring day as novice and advanced shooters alike marveled at the incredible weather while soaking up rays and rotating through six stages of scenarios set up to simulate real-life self defense situations or to give shooters a chance to hone their skills.

The steel plates rang out with every hit scored, while other groups worked their way through the two "live fire house"; and practiced home defense. Target identification and moving to cover were the theme at the two stages set up at the far end of the property. Stages were rounded out at the Force on Force house, where participants swapped out their firearms for soft air pistols to test their decision making abilities against TDI instructors.

While this was not a formal training event, participants were able to learn by doing and often received valuable pointers from the talented TDI and IDPA groups. Several attendees were so impressed by what they saw and experienced that they inquired on the spot about signing up for tactical training from TDI.

OFCC wishes to express our sincere gratitude to every OFCC staffer and member who served as group leaders and drove down the day before the event to help set-up, to the IDPA range safety officers who also came out the day before to plan and setup the stages, and to John Benner and his instructors for everything they've done for us.

Keep watch on this site for images of the event, to the forums for reviews from participants, and to the next Firearms Freedom Podcast for interviews with participants!
