OFCC Sues City of Cleveland Heights, Ohio The sign you see here is posted in Cleveland Heights Parks implying possession of a firearm is a crime. On Friday August 12th, 2011 Ohioans For Concealed Carry Filed a lawsuit against the City the City of Cleveland Heights. The litigation comes after many attempts to resolve concerns over laws that Cleveland Heights not only allowed to remain on their books, but also posted signs at their parks that continue to imply it is illegal to be armed. The City of Cleveland Heights has chosen to ignore our attempts at civil discourse. When individuals have contacted them representing themselves as residents of the City of Cleveland Heights their concerns apparently fell on deaf ears. When representatives of the organization have formally contacted the city's legal representation they've been laughed at and hung up on by the Law Director. It is this arrogance and refusal to work with Ohioans For Concealed Carry that has forced us to seek a remedy through the courts.
Our press release follows.

Hang Together or Hang Separately

Those of us who enjoy firearms for both self-defense and hunting are a little frustrated. What we are frustrated about is the attitude among some firearms enthusiasts that, “As long as the anti-gunners aren't clamoring to take away my (insert gun of choice), I don't care if they ban (insert boogeyman -- .50cal, 'assault' weapons, etc)”.

Well, now the chickens have come home to roost. I have seen an increase in both tone and substance in “banning firearms that can penetrate body armor”. We know that that includes most deer rifles.

Now this:

Gunman used hunting skills at Omaha mall

The world was stunned by the senseless shootings at the Westroads Mall and we mourn for the families and friends of the victims. While nothing can ease the pain of the survivors, it is time for the firearms industry and Nebraska Game and Parks to take partial responsibility for these wanton acts of violence, since incidents such as these expose the fine line between violence against wildlife and violence against humans.

...

Sadly, the killing skills used by [the killer] are taught to Nebraska's children by the Game and Parks Commission under the guise of "Hunter Education." As long as state agencies conspire with the weapons industry in promoting violence as recreation, senseless killings will always take place.

...

Couple this with the moronic response of people who like this doctor have no problem forgiving the SHOOTER:

Doctor Calls for Ban of Assault Weapons

The doctor who has treated Von Maur shooting victim Fred Wilson spoke candidly Wednesday about social issues that came out of this tragedy, like mental health care and the availability of assault weapons.

“I have no anger whatsoever toward him, no anger whatsoever toward [the killer]”. While Fred Wilson spoke about forgiving the mall shooter, his doctor mentioned was using this tragic example as a reason why the weapon the shooter used, an AK-47, should be banned.

“Basically the faster the bullet is going the more damage it does, that's a basic, physical principle,” says Nebraska Medical Center Trauma Medical Director Dr. Joseph Stothert. “These are very high velocity weapons that are only meant to destroy tissue and kill people.”

...

The hunting community needs to wake up. What you call your Granddad's deer rifle, the Violence Policy Center calls an “intermediate sniper rifle” and of course wants to ban them. What is an intermediate sniper rifle, you ask? By their definition, any rifle with an optical sight allowing the user to shoot at distances of 100 meters or greater. Which is pretty much any rifle used to hunt varmints and big game in the United States.

Not all hunters are asleep, but a large portion are. Please help us in stopping these gun-grabbers whenever they rear their heads to spread false information. Make no mistake, they are coming for all of our guns.
