OFCC Sues City of Cleveland Heights, Ohio The sign you see here is posted in Cleveland Heights Parks implying possession of a firearm is a crime. On Friday August 12th, 2011 Ohioans For Concealed Carry Filed a lawsuit against the City the City of Cleveland Heights. The litigation comes after many attempts to resolve concerns over laws that Cleveland Heights not only allowed to remain on their books, but also posted signs at their parks that continue to imply it is illegal to be armed. The City of Cleveland Heights has chosen to ignore our attempts at civil discourse. When individuals have contacted them representing themselves as residents of the City of Cleveland Heights their concerns apparently fell on deaf ears. When representatives of the organization have formally contacted the city's legal representation they've been laughed at and hung up on by the Law Director. It is this arrogance and refusal to work with Ohioans For Concealed Carry that has forced us to seek a remedy through the courts.
Our press release follows.

Practical Self Defense

While the "Northwest Serial Rapist" continues to terrorize the Columbus area, at least some media outlets continue to stick their heads in the sand when it comes to practical, effective self defense.

Channel 10 news' website has a story posted about the attacks (including a map of locations) and the fact that women in the area are seeking means to protect themselves.

The article talks about use of defense sprays (such as Mace) and self-defense classes, but carrying a more effective weapon like a firearm was conspicuously absent.

NBC4 also ran an article, which at least did mention firearms. However, they took the time to print in bold text, "NBC 4 does not advocate purchasing a gun for self defense."

As Oleg Volk so eloquently puts it on his website, "no other tool, be it a taser, a knife or a can of pepper spray offers as good a chance to remain un-hurt in the face of a criminal attack. Further, firearms are extremely reliable: they are a product of over seven centuries of technical evolution."

Criminal attackers can be immune to chemical sprays, might ignore the effects due to drugs, or might be afforded protection from eye wear. None of that would do him any good if faced with a defending firearm and someone who knows how to use it.

The liberal, anti-gun media may not want to accept the truth, but that doesn't change the facts. NBC4 may not advocate purchasing a firearm for personal defense, but OFCC does.

For the highest level of safety, get a gun and get training. The life you save could be your own.
