The San Francisco Housing Authority has decided that the Supreme Court of the United States meant what it said in the Heller decision and has agreed to lift the ban on residents owning firearms. SFHA residents will now have the same rights as citizens who live in private residences (thought they will still be subject to the rest of California's onerous firearms laws). The Housing Authority's lawyer claimed they never meant to enforce the ban. One might surmise that they were "just kidding" until slapped down by SCOTUS. If they truly were only "after people who were engaged in criminal activity," then why did it take an NRA lawsuit to convince them to remove the restriction? |
