![]() The 2009 Fun 'n Gun was held Saturday and was a huge success. Despite the poor economy, high ammunition prices, and poor ammunition availability, there was still a great turn out. The weather was great, and the fine folks from Rochester Rod & Gun club set up some fun and challenging stages for the participants to shoot. Some of these stages were designed to simulate real-life scenarios a person might face in a real life self defense situation. Many shooters commented that they got to practice skills not always permitted at gun ranges, such as drawing from the holster and shooting on the move. Adding additional realism were the realistic facades representing buildings that let participants shoot through doorways and windows when engaging bad guys and rescuing hostages. For lunch, everyone enjoyed pulled pork sandwiches and a variety of sides topped off with a selection of cookies before heading back out for the second half of the day's shooting. All and all it was a rousing success and everyone I talked to said they are looking forward to next year. A special thank you to all Rochester and OFCC volunteers who worked so hard to make the day such a success. Pictures and video from the event
