OFCC Sues City of Cleveland Heights, Ohio The sign you see here is posted in Cleveland Heights Parks implying possession of a firearm is a crime. On Friday August 12th, 2011 Ohioans For Concealed Carry Filed a lawsuit against the City the City of Cleveland Heights. The litigation comes after many attempts to resolve concerns over laws that Cleveland Heights not only allowed to remain on their books, but also posted signs at their parks that continue to imply it is illegal to be armed. The City of Cleveland Heights has chosen to ignore our attempts at civil discourse. When individuals have contacted them representing themselves as residents of the City of Cleveland Heights their concerns apparently fell on deaf ears. When representatives of the organization have formally contacted the city's legal representation they've been laughed at and hung up on by the Law Director. It is this arrogance and refusal to work with Ohioans For Concealed Carry that has forced us to seek a remedy through the courts.
Our press release follows.
Canton PD Event Leads to New OFCC Legislation When officer Harless of the Canton, Ohio police department came upon a vehicle stopped in the roadway most of us were focused on getting restaurant carry legislation signed into law. What took place that evening has become an international viral video, calls for the resignation of the City Council president, and criminal charges against a man who is clearly heard trying to state that he has a license. Ohioans For Concealed Carry has not just raised thousands of dollars in a legal defense fund, but we've written legislation to resolve this matter that Representative Danny Bubp has stated he's going to introduce this fall

Today’s lesson: A touchy-feely emotional plea for self-preservation for our 'fact-less friends' PDF Print E-mail

Opening statements in the 2008 murder of 21 year old Denise Lee (daughter of a police detective) began yesterday, this victim was kidnapped, raped and killed while officials cite "cellular telephone routing problems" exacerbated the situation.

What happens when you have been kidnapped, the police have been alerted by another driver (of your location) and that you are pleading for your life screaming for help, yet you 'cannot be located'? Perhaps these descriptive directions will help to locate you: “Well, I'm on 41 going south, and I'm gonna do a cross street right now. It's at, I'm on Chamberlain, I just crossed Chamberlain, I'm on 41 going south. And I was a stoplight and a man pulled up next to me and there was a child screaming in the car.” – Guess again. How about if you call 911 from the attackers phone and are begging to “…go, I just want to see my family again” and your plea for assistance is routed to an entirely different county?

In Denise Lee’s situation what happens is that you remain at the mercy of Michael King who will have his way with you, dig a hole and dump your lifeless body leaving behind a husband, a 2 year old child and a 6 month old child.

Perhaps that legally owned firearm would have come in handy seconds before your attacker decided to use his to shoot you in the head and put you in a shallow grave. But “I couldn’t imagine taking somebody else’s life”? Well he didn’t think twice when he decided to take hers and that is what kind of criminal that is on the streets, this criminal was not created out of legal gun ownership, but in this situation legal gun ownership would have saved a young mother.

Liberals and anti-gun lobbies use touchy-feely reasons to NOT have firearms, today I offer you touchy-feely reasons to have one (based upon facts of course) for self-defense. The police cannot be everywhere all the time and even when they are on the other end of the phone this doesn’t mean they can prevent such tragedies.

Don’t forget when seconds count, help is only minutes away and they are bringing a big stick of chalk to outline the body.
