OFCC Sues City of Cleveland Heights, Ohio
The sign you see here is posted in Cleveland Heights Parks implying possession of a firearm is a crime.
On Friday August 12th, 2011 Ohioans For Concealed Carry Filed a lawsuit against the City the City of Cleveland Heights. The litigation comes after many attempts to resolve concerns over laws that Cleveland Heights not only allowed to remain on their books, but also posted signs at their parks that continue to imply it is illegal to be armed. The City of Cleveland Heights has chosen to ignore our attempts at civil discourse. When individuals have contacted them representing themselves as residents of the City of Cleveland Heights their concerns apparently fell on deaf ears. When representatives of the organization have formally contacted the city's legal representation they've been laughed at and hung up on by the Law Director. It is this arrogance and refusal to work with Ohioans For Concealed Carry that has forced us to seek a remedy through the courts.

Canton PD Event Leads to New OFCC Legislation
When officer Harless of the Canton, Ohio police department came upon a vehicle stopped in the roadway most of us were focused on getting restaurant carry legislation signed into law.
What took place that evening has become an international viral video, calls for the resignation of the City Council president, and criminal charges against a man who is clearly heard trying to state that he has a license.
Ohioans For Concealed Carry has not just raised thousands of dollars in a legal defense fund, but we've written legislation to resolve this matter that Representative Danny Bubp has stated he's going to introduce this fall

===
FRIDAY - SEPTEMBER 30th, 2011 -- LEGAL DAY ONE*
DO NOT FOLLOW THE NEW LAW UNTIL SEPTEMBER 30th, 2011 or LATER*
FOR MORE INFORMATION:
Ohioans For Concealed Carry believes, based on information provided to us by the Secretary of State's office at 3:45pm Friday July 1st, that SB17 and HB54 are being filed at this moment, and that on Friday, September 30th legislation that Governor John Kasich signed into law on June 29th will go into effect at 12:00am.
This is the first day that Ohio concealed handgun licensees will be permitted to carry a firearm into a liquor serving establishment so long as they are not consuming or under the influence. It's also the same day that multiple restrictions on the way you carry a firearm in a motor vehicle will be eased and streamlined for better understanding an compliance. Finally, it's the same day that Ohio House Bill 54 will go into effect as well -- a change in the way Ohio restores rights, deals with minor misdemeanor drug convictions firearms prohibition, and brings Ohio into compliance with United States Supreme Court case law regarding rights restoration.
We strongly urge you to read our documents on what changes and how it will improve your experience carrying a firearm for self-defense:
New Rules for Vehicle Carry: The Other Half of SB17
New Rules for Restaurant Carry (Coming Soon)
* Based on an analysis and comparison of recently filed / enrolled acts with the Ohio Secretary of State's office. Ohioans For Concealed Carry compared bills enrolled with the SoS and their "effective date" to the date the Secretary of State indicates that SB17 and HB54 were filed with the SoS offices. We believe based on that information and taking July 4th into consideration that the effective date of these laws will be as shown above. In the event that the Secretary of State's office publishes inforation to the contrary this website will be updated with that information -- check back here after the July 4th Holiday for updates.
