OFCC Sues City of Cleveland Heights, Ohio The sign you see here is posted in Cleveland Heights Parks implying possession of a firearm is a crime. On Friday August 12th, 2011 Ohioans For Concealed Carry Filed a lawsuit against the City the City of Cleveland Heights. The litigation comes after many attempts to resolve concerns over laws that Cleveland Heights not only allowed to remain on their books, but also posted signs at their parks that continue to imply it is illegal to be armed. The City of Cleveland Heights has chosen to ignore our attempts at civil discourse. When individuals have contacted them representing themselves as residents of the City of Cleveland Heights their concerns apparently fell on deaf ears. When representatives of the organization have formally contacted the city's legal representation they've been laughed at and hung up on by the Law Director. It is this arrogance and refusal to work with Ohioans For Concealed Carry that has forced us to seek a remedy through the courts.
Our press release follows.
Canton PD Event Leads to New OFCC Legislation When officer Harless of the Canton, Ohio police department came upon a vehicle stopped in the roadway most of us were focused on getting restaurant carry legislation signed into law. What took place that evening has become an international viral video, calls for the resignation of the City Council president, and criminal charges against a man who is clearly heard trying to state that he has a license. Ohioans For Concealed Carry has not just raised thousands of dollars in a legal defense fund, but we've written legislation to resolve this matter that Representative Danny Bubp has stated he's going to introduce this fall

Concealed Carry Effective and Popular in Kentucky PDF Print E-mail
Written by Mike Kinsey

A new series entitled “Under the Gun” is being published on the website for a Kentucky television station, WBKO. The first installment of this series describes our southern neighbors’ successful implementation of their concealed carry laws. The article begins generally by stating that there are nearly 192 million firearms owned in the United States and 500,000 accounts are reported each year of justified self-defense with a concealed handgun when outside the home. Obviously, that number would drastically increase if incidents inside the home were included as well as justified self-defense uses that are never reported due to de-escalation of the situation.

While these numbers speak to the effectiveness of concealed carry throughout Kentucky and the rest of the country, the article also specifically describes the popularity of Kentucky licenses since the law went into effect in Ocotober of 1996 as well as the law-abiding nature of the citizens that receive them.

According to an article by John Snyder, gun control and firearm rights are already an issue for the 110th Congress. Many legislators have already announced its intentions to add to our nation’s gun laws. However, all legislative news is not bad and there are a few proposed bills that are worthy of our support. Thoughts on the good and bad are given below:

Debunking Brady? Not like it’s hard! PDF Print E-mail

As most all 2nd Amendment active people know, when an anti-gun person says something, it is usually an exaggeration, or it contains some hidden methodology that the American public would not normally associate with their wording, or it is just flat out wrong. So when I came across an interview with The Brady Campaign’s Paul Helmke, I read it and asked myself, “Which of those three choices is this?”

Taft: Don't let the door hit you on the way out PDF Print E-mail

One minute after midnight Monday morning Ted Strickland was sworn in as Ohio's next Governor in a relatively small private ceremony in the Governor's office in the Statehouse. A much more elaborate event will take place this coming Saturday. For the first time in sixteen years, a Democrat will lead Ohio as Governor - and most likely with a platform more palatable to gun owners, if not far better than his predecessor.

Outgoing Governor Bob Taft will end eight-years marred by failure, the coin-gate scandal, ethics violations, and comical popularity ratings. This organization began it's legislative efforts fighting against "mandatory safe storage" gun control Bob Taft had pushed, with him even going so far as to make an unusual appearance before the Criminal Justice Committee to speak in favor of his bill. We won our first Bob Taft battle when the bill died in committee in 1999.
