OFCC Sues City of Cleveland Heights, Ohio The sign you see here is posted in Cleveland Heights Parks implying possession of a firearm is a crime. On Friday August 12th, 2011 Ohioans For Concealed Carry Filed a lawsuit against the City the City of Cleveland Heights. The litigation comes after many attempts to resolve concerns over laws that Cleveland Heights not only allowed to remain on their books, but also posted signs at their parks that continue to imply it is illegal to be armed. The City of Cleveland Heights has chosen to ignore our attempts at civil discourse. When individuals have contacted them representing themselves as residents of the City of Cleveland Heights their concerns apparently fell on deaf ears. When representatives of the organization have formally contacted the city's legal representation they've been laughed at and hung up on by the Law Director. It is this arrogance and refusal to work with Ohioans For Concealed Carry that has forced us to seek a remedy through the courts.
Our press release follows.
Canton PD Event Leads to New OFCC Legislation When officer Harless of the Canton, Ohio police department came upon a vehicle stopped in the roadway most of us were focused on getting restaurant carry legislation signed into law. What took place that evening has become an international viral video, calls for the resignation of the City Council president, and criminal charges against a man who is clearly heard trying to state that he has a license. Ohioans For Concealed Carry has not just raised thousands of dollars in a legal defense fund, but we've written legislation to resolve this matter that Representative Danny Bubp has stated he's going to introduce this fall

Ohio General Election Results PDF Print E-mail

Gun owners in Ohio should be proud of the successes seen in three Statewide races decided Tuesday. OFCC Endorsee Marc Dann came from behind in a last minute victory following an NRA blitz post card to Ohio gun owners. Dann appears to have won the seat hands down and will become Ohio's next Attorney General. Anyone familiar with Ohioans For Concealed Carry litigation and the process of determining reciprocity agreements will understand how important it is to have a favorable candidate in this seat. Despite attempts to portray herself as pro-gun most gun owners saw the light and ended Montgomery's second run for Attorney General.

Ohioans For Concealed Carry was the first to endorse Secretary Of State Ken Blackwell in his bid to become Governor. Before any of the results were made public Blackwell conceded the election to Ted Strickland -- an A rated NRA candidate, who won the race with an overwhelming margin. Strickland stated he would sign HB347 into law and we look forward to working with Governor Elect Strickland should Bob Taft stop or hinder HB347's progress.

We have a comprehensive list of election results lower in this story...

Ohio's GPA*, or Gun Point Average, rose slightly after a majority of the candidates endorsed by Ohioans For Concealed Carry, and rated highly by the NRA, won their races. Overall, 91 of OFCC's 127 endorsed candidates (nearly 72%) won their races thanks to those of you who took the time to Vote Your Guns.

Taking into account the candidate grades given out by the NRA Political Victory Fund, the GPA for the Ohio House of Representatives rose from a 3.22 to 3.36. The Ohio House now has a B+.

The Ohio Senate is in worse shape, but still improved from a 2.75 to 2.81. Still a B-.

Overall, the Ohio legislature rose from a 3.16 to 3.28, nearly a B+. Coupled with an A rated Governor-elect, the future looks bright for gun rights reform in Ohio.

CHL Reform Still on Agenda PDF Print E-mail

While it comes too late for preventing accidental violations of Ohio's "Open Carry in a Motor Vehicle" provision of the Concealed Handgun License Law (by accidentally concealing due to bulky winter coats and the fact that a new law would take 90 days to go into effect) there is still hope for CHL reform in Ohio this year.

In an opinion piece in the Canton Rep, Senate President Bill Harris, (R-Ashland) said that CHL reform is still on his mind.

Passing the reform bill is important, but for very different political reasons depending on the outcome of today's Gubernatorial election.

Gun Control Hypocrisy PDF Print E-mail
Written by Daniel White
Tuesday, 07 November 2006 04:30

For most Americans, guns are not a political issue. People buy and own guns to protect their families, not to commit crimes. The truth is that even millions of Americans who support and vote for gun control own guns themselves, because deep down they share the basic human need to feel secure in their homes.

The truth shall set you free. This quote was the opening paragraph in an article in yesterday's Hawaii Reporter, which was written by Texas Congressman Ron Paul(R).

From Rosie O'Donnell's armed bodyguards to Dianne Feinstein holding one of the only ccw licenses in San Francisco, the anti-gun world is rife with pundits who don't practice what they preach.
