OFCC Sues City of Cleveland Heights, Ohio The sign you see here is posted in Cleveland Heights Parks implying possession of a firearm is a crime. On Friday August 12th, 2011 Ohioans For Concealed Carry Filed a lawsuit against the City the City of Cleveland Heights. The litigation comes after many attempts to resolve concerns over laws that Cleveland Heights not only allowed to remain on their books, but also posted signs at their parks that continue to imply it is illegal to be armed. The City of Cleveland Heights has chosen to ignore our attempts at civil discourse. When individuals have contacted them representing themselves as residents of the City of Cleveland Heights their concerns apparently fell on deaf ears. When representatives of the organization have formally contacted the city's legal representation they've been laughed at and hung up on by the Law Director. It is this arrogance and refusal to work with Ohioans For Concealed Carry that has forced us to seek a remedy through the courts.
Our press release follows.
Canton PD Event Leads to New OFCC Legislation When officer Harless of the Canton, Ohio police department came upon a vehicle stopped in the roadway most of us were focused on getting restaurant carry legislation signed into law. What took place that evening has become an international viral video, calls for the resignation of the City Council president, and criminal charges against a man who is clearly heard trying to state that he has a license. Ohioans For Concealed Carry has not just raised thousands of dollars in a legal defense fund, but we've written legislation to resolve this matter that Representative Danny Bubp has stated he's going to introduce this fall

The Left Wing's Gun Plans PDF Print E-mail

As another election draws near, it is important to remember why every gun owner must get themselves, their family, and their friends to the polls. Alan Korwin, distinguished author of several books focusing on the political climate concerning firearms, is helping to remind us. He has reproduced “The Left Wing’s Gun Plans” describing goals of certain political leaders' plans to further erode our firearm rights. He claims that the list of goals was widely circulated during the Clinton Administration and was adopted as a Five Year Plan. Voting the wrong people into office next month could set this Five Year Plan into motion. How would you feel about some of the items on this list that have been included below:

Attorney General Joins OFCC In Clyde Appeal PDF Print E-mail
Written by Jeff Garvas
Tuesday, 17 October 2006 06:02

Ohioans For Concealed Carry recently filed a Merit Brief in support of our appeal of the Clyde decision to the Sixth District Appellate Court. Ohio Attorney General Jim Petro's Office, an original intervenor in the case, filed a brief supporting the appeal and joined OFCC asking the court to reach a different conclusion than they did in Beatty.
Although the issue in this case is the same, Appellant respectfully asks this Court to again consider the arguments made herein, and to reach a different conclusion...
Although a conflicting decision is unlikely Ohioans For Concealed Carry is seeking a speedy decision by the Sixth District so that our case can be appealed to the Ohio Supreme Court, and if possible, joined with the Beatty appeal. Legal Briefs: OFCC Clyde Appeal & AG Clyde Brief

In the latest news in the Dan Sayers case, the Motion to Reconsider and Clarify has been denied by the Oregon Municipal Court.

Sayers' attorney, Daniel Ellis, had filed a motion with the court to dismiss the charges, which was denied. Ellis then filed a Motion to Reconsider and Clarify alleging that the court did not address three issues:

1)Sayers was the subject of a felony stop and that the requirement to inform police he was carrying a firearm would have been self-incrimination and a violation of his Fifth Amendment Rights
2)The Oregon ordinance prohibiting carrying of all firearms is unconstitutional
3)The distinction of carrying open vs. concealed

The Court's response to these three allegations was less than stellar.

As a woman, I must confess that I used to depend on my husband for much of my safety. My husband has had his Ohio Concealed Handgun License for some time. My husband prepares for emergencies and trains to deal with potential situations. My husband keeps our shotgun for home defense within easy reach at night. My husband meticulously cleans our firearms, buys the best ammunition, and practices on a regular basis. My husband locks up our house each night, sets the alarm, and sleeps closest to the bedroom door.

While he does an excellent job of taking care of me, I realize that he is not with me 24 hours a day. While I depend on him for so much in my life, the fact remains that I still have to depend on myself. Similarly, when we have children of our own, they also will depend on me and me alone.
