OFCC Sues City of Cleveland Heights, Ohio The sign you see here is posted in Cleveland Heights Parks implying possession of a firearm is a crime. On Friday August 12th, 2011 Ohioans For Concealed Carry Filed a lawsuit against the City the City of Cleveland Heights. The litigation comes after many attempts to resolve concerns over laws that Cleveland Heights not only allowed to remain on their books, but also posted signs at their parks that continue to imply it is illegal to be armed. The City of Cleveland Heights has chosen to ignore our attempts at civil discourse. When individuals have contacted them representing themselves as residents of the City of Cleveland Heights their concerns apparently fell on deaf ears. When representatives of the organization have formally contacted the city's legal representation they've been laughed at and hung up on by the Law Director. It is this arrogance and refusal to work with Ohioans For Concealed Carry that has forced us to seek a remedy through the courts.
Our press release follows.
Canton PD Event Leads to New OFCC Legislation When officer Harless of the Canton, Ohio police department came upon a vehicle stopped in the roadway most of us were focused on getting restaurant carry legislation signed into law. What took place that evening has become an international viral video, calls for the resignation of the City Council president, and criminal charges against a man who is clearly heard trying to state that he has a license. Ohioans For Concealed Carry has not just raised thousands of dollars in a legal defense fund, but we've written legislation to resolve this matter that Representative Danny Bubp has stated he's going to introduce this fall

Ohioans For Concealed Carry is proud to announce that we have exceeded our initial fund raising goal in the Dan Sayers Legal Defense Fund. Those who read this website regularly may recall that we challenged you to donate $2500 to the fund in an effort to help Dan Sayers obtain competent legal representation. (History: The Dan Sayers History)

Less than three months into the project, and thanks to contributions we've received online, in the mail, and in person at public events such as our picnic those of you who contributed have exceeded what we asked you to help us raise for this cause.

Candidate Stresses Need for CCW Reform PDF Print E-mail

As the elections draw near, it is refreshing to see a legislator focus more on their job than their campaign. Representative Danny Bubp, the OFCC endorsee for Ohio’s 88th District, is able to do just that as he is running unopposed for re-election. This luxury has allowed him to perform the job that he was hired to do: Concerning himself with the concerns of his constituents.

One concern that Rep. Bubp is focusing on is the need for passage of House Bill 347, which will improve Ohio’s Concealed Carry laws.

What They Didn't Tell You Today PDF Print E-mail

Wayne LaPierre, President of the National Rifle Association, has begun a personal blog that can be viewed at NRANews.com. It will be updated daily so that America can find out “What They Didn’t Tell You Today.” “They”, of course, refers to the mainstream media that rarely reports on self-defense encounters and the positives of responsible firearm ownership. Mr. LaPierre writes,
“If you’re tired of seeing the good news go unreported while there’s anti-gun spin in every edition of the paper, if you’re sick of politicians telling lies to pass more gun control laws and nobody ever calling them out then you’re in luck. There’s a new blog in town where you’ll get straight talk, the real story, and everything they left out.”

Firearms Law & The Second Amendment Symposium PDF Print E-mail

OFCC's Dan White, along with attorney Dan Ellis, attended the 2006 Firearms Law & The Second Amendment Symposium held at the George Mason School of Law in Arlington, Virginia on Saturday, October 7th.

Not only were the speakers very informative, but OFCC also made a lot of new friends with other pro-gun groups from some of the Eastern states. This networking will help by giving us valuable insight into what has and has not worked in other states, most of whom have had concealed carry laws longer than Ohio.

An incident from OFCC's past activities even made it into one of the presentations, as you will read about later in this story.
