The sun was shining, the birds were singing, and the bullets were flying at the Second Annual OFCC/TDI Fun 'n Gun fundraiser!
Sixty OFCC members joined OFCC staff at the Tactical Defense Institute, located in West Union, Ohio, for our annual PAC fundraiser Sunday, April 2, 2006. John Benner, founder of TDI, donated use of his facility and time for this fun event. The sweep of gun rights reform in this country is nearly complete as Nebraska prepares to join the 47 other states who have some provision for citizens to carry firearms for their personal protection.
The Nebraska legislature passed a concealed carry bill Wednesday, which Republican Governor Dave Heineman has said he will sign into law.
Only Illinois and Wisconsin continue to ban concealed carry, and Wisconsin has narrowly failed to override their governor's veto on two separate ocassions.

If the actions of the media and anti-self defense extremists in Florida are any indication of what will happen here, then we should brace ourselves for a highly negative campaign of disinformation against this victim protection legislation.
In Florida, a nearly identical bill was passed into law recently. It was immediately labeled as “shoot first” legislation as opponents attempted to deceive citizens and tourists into believing that it allowed any person to attack another for any perceived sleight. They passed out fliers at airports and erected billboards claiming that cutting someone off in traffic or giving a stranger the finger was justifiable cause for them to open fire on you under the new law.

A few weeks ago the Columbus Dispatch's Glenn Sheller wrote a column Conceal-carry OK, permit secrecy isn’t that played both sides of the fence. The author didn't find anything wrong with concealed carry, but he isn't going to get a license. The author is, obviously, opposed to the rights of law-abiding gun owners who want nothing more than to exercise their right to carry a firearm for self-defense without being scrutinized like sexual predators.
In an effort to set the record straight I wrote a letter to the Columbus Dispatch and despite its length and aggressive approach, it was printed this past Saturday. You can read it here: Gun-owners list used for intimidation
One of Bill Singleton's Killers Sentenced

Last June we reported that Akeem Huggins was indicted on murder and aggravated robbery charges. Many readers of this website feel that Singleton's status as a concealed handgun licensee, published by the Cleveland Plain Dealer at the time, contributed to the ambush style attack, by five young men, that took his life. That story is finally coming to a close...
