The Ohio Attorney General and Buckeye State Sheriff's Association have indicated that reading and signing the brochure at the sheriff's office when you submit your application will be acceptable. However, it is conceivable that a sheriff could attempt to insist that proof that the Instructor gave you the pamphlet be presented. Also, the law required proof that your competency certificate was given to you after a competency test that met the law. Some Sheriffs could attempt to reject such applicants if their training is dated well before the law went into effect.
