Using your credit card online is actually safer than many people realize. Most customers fail to realize that their maximum liability with most financial institutions is $50.00. (see below)

Encryption Technology:

Ohioans For Concealed Carry's online webstore (https://www.OhioCCW.org) is a secure website utilizing industry standard 128bit SSL encryption.

Any website address that starts with https:// utilizes SSL encryption. You know when your website browsing is encrypted when a gold lock or key appears in the lower task bar of your web browser. Double clicking that golden icon will reveal the details of the SSL certificate and the Certificate Authority. (Your web browser will ask a third party "Certificate Authority" if the certificate is valid when the session begins)

Temporary Disposable Credit Cards:

Most credit card companies (Such as MBNA) offer an excellent method for making online purchases. An existing customer first signs up on the card issuers website (such as MBNA's website) and can create temporary credit card numbers that have a maximum amount of money available, or expire within a few days of their creation by the card holder.

These temporary cards are tied to your existing credit card account and can be made to expire as soon as the exact amount you choose is spent. If you have a "real" credit card other than a debit card you can utilize this feature and use the "fake" credit card number to make purchases on the Ohioans For Concealed Carry website.

Maximum Liability.

Your bank or credit card company has a maximum liability -- or the maximum amount of money you are required to pay in the event of a dispute. In most cases if you are not responsible for the charges made against your credit card, you are typically not responsible for more than $50.00 if you report the discrepency on your billing statement within 30-60 days.

If you're worried about the safety of using your credit card online contact your financial institution and ask them about the safety of using your card on our website -- and ask them what your maximum liability would be if someone somehow acquired your credit card information.
