SAF Sues Library System Over Internet Censorship of Gun WebsitesThe Second Amendment Foundation and three Washington State residents have filed a federal lawsuit against a north-central Washington regional library system for denying them access to websites that include information on firearms and publications dealing with guns. SAF Files Amici Curiae Brief in Lawsuit; DC Gun Ban Ruled UnconstitutionalThe Supreme Court has overturned the DC Gun Ban, ruling that the Second Amendment protects and individual right to keep and bear arms. SAF, CCRKBA and Madison Society, along with a dozen university law professors, filed an amicus brief in the suit to overturn the DC Gun Ban. Additionally, 13 state Attorneys General filed an amici curiae brief in support of the SAF position to protect the right to Keep and Bear Arms. SAF Sues to Overturn San Francisco Gun BanThe city appealled SAF's intial victory overturning the San Francisco Gun Ban. The California Appeals Court has unanimously ruled to uphold the lower court's decision, so SAF won again. The city then appealed to the California Supreme Court, which again ruled in SAF's favor. (Read More...)SAF SETTLES NEW ORLEANS LAWSUITOctober 9, 2008 - BELLEVUE, WA – The Second Amendment Foundation has reached an agreement with the City of New Orleans in a 2005 federal lawsuit that stopped the city from seizing firearms in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. The landmark lawsuit, a joint effort by SAF and the National Rifle Association, was filed in September 2005 after police and National Guardsmen began confiscating firearms without warrant or probable cause from citizens who were not suspected of committing any crimes. Under terms of the settlement, which now awaits a judge’s signature, the city must try to return all firearms that were seized. Ohio’s current concealed carry statute, adopted by the State Legislature in 2006, prohibits local governments from adopting more stringent gun control regulations than the state.
