Toby Hoover at it again (Columbus Dispatch) PDF Print E-mail
Gun Grabbers
Written by Administrator
Saturday, 10 February 2001
A letter was printed by The Columbus Dispatch from Toby Hoover, the anti-gun director of "The Ohio Coalition Against Gun Violence". Ms. Hoover's emotional sensationalism and linking criminals to lawful Ohioans was printed almost verbatim to that of other newspapers. Ironically, the Columbus Dispatch has never printed a letter submitted by me from the Cleveland area, yet they've printed her letter from Toledo. Maybe it was my position on the issue and not my position on the Ohio map? How to write a letter to the Columbus Dispatch.

Few safe places are left in our armed America -- This link was anonymously submitted. It leads to a Free Republic thread which started with a post from the Chicago Sun Times. The author appears to be writing a very "anti gun" editorial. But just wait until you get a chance to read it.

Ohio Representative Tom Brinkman in the news (CCW) PDF Print E-mail
Ohio Law & Politics

This story from Capitol Gate is about Tom Brinkman and what will likely be this year's first CCW bill. This legislation is Vermont style CCW. The sub-title of the article is great: "Tom Brinkman’s new proposal ain’t your daddy’s concealed-carry bill." One discouraging note: Speaker of the House, Representative Householder, said he predicts "some type" of CCW legislation will pass, but he doesn't know when. Translation: You need to call Representative Householder's office: (614) 466-2501 and then write him a letter on paper. We can't let them stall this issue!

The Cleveland Plain Dealer and the AP have yet another interesting story. You may recall a OhioCCW posting from January 7th about The Turnpike Shooting in Portage County, Ohio. The portage county prosecutor has cleared the officers of any wrong doing in the case. After watching the dash camera footage myself I concur! But the same lingering question begs an answer: Would this be justified self-defense had the police not been there?

From The Cleveland Plain Dealer and the Associated Press, it appears Hunting and Fishing License costs may rise due to budget issues in the State of Ohio. Although this has very little impact on Concealed Carry Legislation many of our hunting friends may find this news interesting.
