Those of you who have been with us for the long-term know we've offered two mailing lists since May of 1999. We eventually started offering a "digest" version of each list in an effort to give some people a way to avoid the high-volumes of email. Lately we've noticed a lot of people join and leave, so we've come up with some changes. Everyone should read this news ASAP as we've created a new list everyone (and I mean everyone) should join today. Please read on... |

Steve Love, Beacon Journal chief editorial writer, wrote a scathing piece of trash today titled No Concealing That Gunlove
Part of it goes like this:
"Except that he is just a kid and not even old enough to legally own a gun, Andy Williams fits the description of someone who might consider himself justified in carrying a concealed weapon. He had to be prepared to defend himself. Insulted? try reading the entire editorial. The author can be written here:

This is one of those cases where the cops were lucky. Lucky to accidentally run into (or maybe that should be almost get hit head on) the fleeing suspect of an armed burglary. Comparing this situation to the one in Columbus it becomes clear that when a store owner shoots an attacker or robber a lesser threat to society occurs. The high-speed chase through town by Ohio State Patrol troops and a Sheriff's Deputy could have easily caused a serious accident. With all of these store robberies happening lately it's time more store owners think about taking an NRA class on self-defense and firearm safety. Read the story at The Toledo Blade |

Awhile ago OFCC ran a few stories on this CCW defense case in Lima, Ohio. The accused, licensed in Georgia, pulled to the side of the road to get some sleep. He supposedly retrieved his firearm from the rear of the car "just in case" and was later woken up by the Ohio State Patrol. Not knowing OSP cops and Ohio law he didn't know not to say anything, so he was promptly arrested for CCW. Neal has informed us that he has received a court date for his final pre-trial on March 13, 2001, and Jury Trial on March 26, 2001. Here we go again.

Two taken for robbers shot at store - Another one for the good guys. This is what happens when you try to rob the store of a gun owner! Updated: The Columbus Dispatch has this great follow up article where the store owner defends his actions and the customers support him.
