Ohioans For Concealed Carry was lucky enough to get our hands on a copy of Substitute House Bill 274 (officially referred to as LSC 1240881-4) in electronic format. If you have a copy of the Adobe Acrobate reader (PDF) you can download it right now from our website and review it. (Acrobat 5.0 may error on opening, click ok, it'll work anyway)

It should be clarified that this file is approximately 296k and approximately 55 pages in length. You can view it in Adobe Acrobat or print it if you wish to read it in hard copy format. Please feel free to distribute a copy to your local gun store, gun range, or hunt clubs.

Ohioans For Concealed Carry has not completely reviewed and discussed the legislation. Many of us are still combing through the many pages (and many changes) still. If you're interested in discussing the details we encourage you to join our ccw-talk mailing list. If you want to be advised of news updates join ccw-alert. (See left border). If you appreciate the efforts this organization is going to please consider becoming a member. Summary Analysis of the legislation will be made available on our website in the near future, and will constantly be discussed on ccw-talk over the next few days. We are pleased to announce that many of the changes the committee made were relative to items we discussed in our August meeting with lawmakers. However, an initial review of the legislation suggests there may be many new concerns, mistakes, or issues which were overlooked when drastic changes were made. The original HB274 legislation and an update on all legislation can be found by clicking the "Pending Legislation" link in the top border.

HB274: Progress, Passage Ahead? PDF Print E-mail

UPDATED: There will NOT be another HB274 hearing NEXT WEDNESDAY at 2:30pm in room 313. Capitol Gate has yet another story on Concealed Carry legislation that directrly mentions Ohioans For Concealed Carry (we were surprised this time!) If you're looking for a recap on where concealed carry legislation stands today, this article will give you about 75% of the story. Check it out and pay close attention to the very last quote in the article from Governor Bob Taft's spokesperson Mary Ann Sharkly. Although many anti-gun (and anti concealed carry) newspapers and editorials have said "Governor Taft will veto" a bill opposed by law enforcement groups Ms. Sharkly confirmed something we've been saying all year: "I don’t think we’ve used the ‘veto’ word yet.”
