The Columbus Dispatch is jumping on the Toby Hoover bandwagon and suggesting pro-gun forces are exploiting the terrorist attacks to further concealed carry legislation. You can read the Toledo Blade's biased editorial right here: Armed to exploit terrorism

The Ohioans For Concealed Carry website was down from 5pm Thursday evening until (eeek!) 3am Sunday morning. The outage was entirely unexpected and we truly appologize.
Technicians are continuing to work on the equipment in an effort to bring everything back to normal. There is a possibility that the website may be entirely unreachable (without any explanation) for short periods of time over the next few days. This is neccesary as we upgrade some of the components which run behind the scenes.
Thank you for your patience and understanding! |

The Ohio Coalition Against Gun Violence, a group of extreme anti-gun individuals, issued a press release shortly before the Civil & Commercial Law Committee was to convene at 2:30pm Wednesday afternoon. The release detailed their plans to boycott the C&CL sub-committee hearings in light of last week's terrorist attacks.
Ohioans For Concealed Carry has responded with a detailed press release (PDF required) outlining our position.
As many of you may know, President George Bush made a request that every American return to their regular lives, plans, and daily duties. We feel that it was both prudent and neccesary for session to be cancelled last week, but to suggest we should allow the terrorists to stop legislation aiming to restore individual liberties is absurd.
It is imperative that the sub-committee continue to give Ohioans the opportunity to be heard on this legislation, but it is also neccesary for the entire General Assembly to move swiftly and pass legislative reform.
Please be sure to take our press release, print it out, and share it with newspapers and television stations in your home towns. If you wish, you may send a copy to your elected officials as well. Your help in spreading the release is greatly appreciated.

The Akron Beacon Journal has a few good letters to the editors today regarding arming pilots. If only flight crews had been packing heat - however, these comment in no way reflect the position of OFCC. Our organization is dedicated to passing concealed carry reform in the State of Ohio. Involving this organization in a federal policy debate, regardless of our position, would simply be outside of the purpose of our organization. |

Republican Councilman Richard Hart, Ward 7, has introduced legislation that would criminalize the possession of guns without trigger locks. The proposed penalty for non compliance will be a first degree misdemeanor, punishable by a six month jail term and a $5000.00 fine. Hart's proposal is based on an accident where an adult, who kept a loaded pistol ready at hand to defend his family against an estranged relative who had made threats of violence, was accidently shot and killed by a toddler. We hope to see Ohioans for Conceal Carry, and their Canton membership, actively oppose this ordinance both in committee meetings and statutory hearings before the entire city council. For more details, see the September 15 issue of the Canton Repository or search their web page at cantonrep.com. Ed Note: This was submitted by an anonymous poster. |
