The Dayton Daily News has a story on HB274: Weapons bill may change to gain backing. Note: I find it incredibly ironic how the Ohio State Patrol spokesman states that the current bill would "allow guns in daycares". Who is he trying to scare and how is that related to the job of a patrol officer? |

The Akron Beacon Journal has a pro-gun letter to the editors here: Better to have gun in house than not while the Toledo Blade has an anti-ccw (and rather silly) letter here: No link between CCW, theology For some reason, many of the anti-ccw crowd "don't feel safe" thinking someone might have a concealed firearm near them. They seem to forget the criminals already do.

In yet another legal victory for lawful firearms owners a settlement has been reached in the lawsuit against the Cuyahoga County Agricultural Society, which runs the Berea Fairgrounds. The story can be found in the Cleveland Plain Dealer: Gun show set sights on return to fairgrounds. As many of you might recall, WTAM talk radio host Mike Trivisonno was supposedly an instigating force in the removal. Supposedly a county commissioner committed an effort to have the shows removed on the Mike Trivisonno show shortly after the Columbine tragedy. What kind of pressure did the County Commissioners put on the Agricultural Society? We may never know. Be sure to drop Mr. Trivisonno a

Dick Walters, president of Niles Gun Shows has been extremely friendly to OFCC's efforts by allowing us to staff his other shows. We're confident that volunteers will be needed to staff the Berea show when it returns! Interested? Contact

The Columbus Dispatch has this local story about home invasion suspects who have been caught and charged. Ironically, as we already posted today (below), a letter to the editors regarding the home invasions describes how armed resistance by a home owner put an end to the problem. |

From the Cincinnati Enquirer: Off-duty officer shoots armed robbery suspect (link may break mid-day) -- An off duty Cincinnati Police Officer who was obviously carrying a concealed firearm shot a suspected bank robber and foiled a robbery in progress.

The Columbus Dispatch has a good letter to the editors today here: Homeowner showed value of being armed but the Toledo Blade has an anti-gun article from someone claiming to be a peace officer: >Concealed carry has disadvantages - There is a good point in this last article about the traumatic experience of using a gun for self-defense. The author, opposed to concealed carry "for the masses", admits he is alive today thanks to his defensive firearm. Strangely enough, he ends with the typical liberal "for the children" excuse, but apparently using a gun for his self-defense was acceptable.

In an effort to clarify misleading news stories Ohioans For Concealed Carry announced yesterday in a press release their continued opposition to HB274.
Ohioans For Concealed Carry has been and remains opposed to HB274, as it was originally introduced. Although OFCC has had productive meetings with lawmakers to discuss concerns, we have not reversed our original position nor have we conceeded to support the legislation at this point.
We can not determine what our position will be on amendments to, or a substitute for HB274 until such changes are official and publically available.

Here is a great letter to the editors of the Columbus Dispatch: Highway Patrol chief off target on gun bill The author definately approached this response from the right angle. Have you written your newspaper?
