A Massilon Ohio newspaper reporter has written a somewhat impressive (although lacking in the understanding of HB225) article on concealed carry. Check it out here: It’s the right choice in Ohio

This story is likely to appear on our website numerous times over the next few weeks, and members should have already received a detailed invitation in the mail. Ohioans For Concealed Carry is proud to announce our membership (and supporters) have been invited to the August 8th debate at the Columbus City Metropolitan Club where Rep. Tom Brinkman, Sen. Website Updates - New Petition PDF Print E-mail
Written by Jeff Garvas
Friday, 27 July 2001
In an effort to maintain our online presence we've recently cleaned up various sections of the website. The left navigational banner has been modified to be easier to read, and other sections of the site have been visited. If you see anything which needs immediate repair, please send a note to us at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it The three most important changes are the updated PDF files. We have updated the files under the petition links to now offer a new version of the 10 signature petition sheet which is hereby called "Revision C" and noted in the lower right hand corner of the petition. If you have old copies, feel free to continue using them, but trash the 20 signature sheets. (please start distributing the "C" petition from now on and use it as your original for future copies) We've deleted the "Law Enforcement Only" petition and upgraded it as well, while also eliminating the MS Word version and replacing it with a PDF. This is the first time we've offered a PDF law enforcement petition, so go grab it! Lastly, we've re-designed the membership application (follow the Become A Member link) and replaced the old files with one single PDF file. If you have not realized it yet, the files and press releases distributed on this website require the freely available Adobe Acrobat PDF reader. Our next goal is to enable online membership, renewal, and donations via credit card.

WEDNESDAY: HB274 FINAL HEARING? PDF Print E-mail
Written by Jeff Garvas
Monday, 23 July 2001
House Bill 274 will have yet another hearing in the CCL Sub-committee this Wednesday (July 25th) at 2:30pm in room 313. (Note: The NRA ILA Fax alert and website incorrectly suggest 2pm and a different room). Please help us staff this hearing room. In order to present a unified front we ask that those of you attending this hearing testify on the merits of the bill and what needs to be changed in it. Previously Rep. Ann Womer-Benjamin stated the hearing would be all interested parties, but it now appears that it could be an opponent only hearing. Regardless, your attendence and 4-5 minute speech regarding HB274 is desperately needed. If you would like to write testimony (in Microsoft Word or clear text) send it to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it before 10pm Tuesday night and we will see that it is delivered to the committee.

FOP softens concealed-gun stance PDF Print E-mail
Written by Jeff Garvas
Monday, 23 July 2001
This Cincinnati Enquirer Article is suggesting that the FOP may not oppose the current CCW legislation proposed by Aslanides in the house (HB274). Eds: This article may not be going that far. The FOP's lobbyist is quoted as saying: "“We might get to a point where we don't oppose the bill." This doesn't mean they'll support the bill, and clearly suggests anti-gun amendments. However, it's encouraging news that they're receptive to CCW reform.

Capitol Gate Article: Willamowski's CCL Committee PDF Print E-mail

This Capitol Gate article on John WIllamowski brings new light to the House Bill 274 issue. He clearly states the bill was not put into the sub-committee to kill it, and that he expects something between HB274 and HB225 to emerge. This story is encouraging news and suggests we need more people at Wednesday's HB274 hearing at 2:30PM

Police were maligned in pro-firearms letter PDF Print E-mail

The author of this letter to the Editors of the Columbus Dispatch is full of the typical Handgun Control Inc. garbage that is used to scare the general public into thinking "wild west shootouts" will occur in such places as Home Depot. The author needs to be enlightened, and Columbus area supporters should take to their pens in response: Police were maligned in pro-firearms letter
