Pemberton CCW case back in court PDF Print E-mail
Written by Jeff Garvas

Awhile ago OFCC ran a few stories on this CCW defense case in Lima, Ohio. The accused, licensed in Georgia, pulled to the side of the road to get some sleep. He supposedly retrieved his firearm from the rear of the car "just in case" and was later woken up by the Ohio State Patrol. Not knowing OSP cops and Ohio law he didn't know not to say anything, so he was promptly arrested for CCW. Neal has informed us that he has received a court date for his final pre-trial on March 13, 2001, and Jury Trial on March 26, 2001. Here we go again.

Cuyahoga County Conspiracy? PDF Print E-mail

If you live anywhere near Cuyahoga County (Cleveland) you're familiar with the fact that the Berea Gun Show, which was put on by Dick Walters, was "kicked out" of the fairgrounds by not being permitted to renew their contract. It all started when the Cuyahoga County Commissioners said on live radio that they would get rid of it, and it happened. The facilities are "leased" or rented from the County by the local Agricultural Society who in turn lends the space out by contract to various shows. The Gun Show was one of them. Recently the two sides sat down and tried to come to a comrpomise, which included a written agreement to bring the gun show back. That is, until the County Commissioners offered 1.3 million dollars of your tax money to the fairgrounds for "renovations". (read more)

Utah Legislators pass reciprocity bill. The bill provides 60 days of reciprocity to all out-of-state visitors. After that time, visitors must apply for a Utah CCW permit. The bill would recognize concealed-weapon permits from every state except Vermont. Read the article here Note: The way I read this, it has no impact on Ohioans until we pass a bill of our own... -jeff

Humor: Five day waiting period for Nike shoes needed PDF Print E-mail
Written by Jeff Garvas
Sunday, 04 March 2001
This associated press story on the Plain Dealer Website has no real relationship to firearms in any way. Maybe it's time the State of Ohio require a 5-day waiting period on Michael Jordan shoes like this. Purchasers will need to fill out a form and have a backround check performed on them. If it's found that they have ever been involved in a "shoe buying frenzy" their purchase will be refused. Then, we'll need to proceed to sue the manufacturer, Nike and Michael Jordan, for producing such a "dangerous product" that places the public mall shopper in danger. Maybe, if we're lucky, we can bankrupt them out of business with frivilous lawsuits. (Sorry, it's a slow news day :-)
