This Cleveland Plain Dealer editorial talks about the CDC's recent study about "gun deaths" dropping. Amazingly they thing the following only applies to broadcasters: While the homicide rate in the 1990s dropped 32 percent, televised newscasts about all killings increased by 473 percent, the Department of Justice found. That's a worthy condemnation of the "if-it-bleeds-it-leads" approach that broadcasters too often take.

(Thread from Free Republic)
Recently Cincinnati's lawsuit against gun manufacturers was thrown out. Having filed the suit in the first place, the implication is that Cincinnati is very hostile to gun owners and the right to self defense. It's my understanding that Ohio does not have concealed carry. (read more)

The Cincinnati Enquirer has a story where Keith Fangman, Fraternal Order of Police president (Cincinnati) was quoted with some rather harsh statements about the on going riots in that part of the state. During the talk radio show Fangman was on he lambasted the local government for neglecting law enforcement's needs, passing feel good racial profiling legislation, and then said he is strongly in favor of concealed carry by citizens and hoped that Governor Taft would eventually sign the bill into law. These are the kind of people in Law Enforcement who I support, and not only because of their views on CCW, but because of their common sense views in general.

Regarding the recent story “Ohio House may consider concealed carry bill,” whenever anything new appears, there is always a contingent that is against it, irrespective of the benefits of change. In the past, almost everyone knew, imagined or believed that the earth was flat and that the sun revolved around the earth.

There has been so much coverage and taping of the Cincinnati riots by the Cincinnati media, has anyone concidered using some of this coverage as a multimedia presentation that we could give every member of the Ohio Legislature? People have been pulled out of their cars and beaten! Why? Because you can't carry in your car! Ohio law has written you into being an easy target.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer's Phillip Morris wrote the following article, Shoot first, fund colleges later, in Tuesday's Cleveland Plain Dealer. The title shows Morris' bias since the Govenor obviously didn't elude to pushing CCW legislation ahead of school funding. But was Taft joking, or does he really not know what CCW stands for? You can email and fax him a letter to remind him.

This story from the Akron Beacon Journal is well balanced. The point is simple: Many Ohioans have concealed carry permits from other states, and many can carry in every state surrounding Ohio. So why do we keep dragging our feet? Note: We need to start contacting people who write these stories and introduce them to Ohioans For Concealed Carry! |
