If you live anywhere near Cuyahoga County (Cleveland) you're familiar with the fact that the Berea Gun Show, which was put on by Dick Walters, was "kicked out" of the fairgrounds by not being permitted to renew their contract. It all started when the Cuyahoga County Commissioners said on live radio that they would get rid of it, and it happened. The facilities are "leased" or rented from the County by the local Agricultural Society who in turn lends the space out by contract to various shows. The Gun Show was one of them. Recently the two sides sat down and tried to come to a comrpomise, which included a written agreement to bring the gun show back. That is, until the County Commissioners offered 1.3 million dollars of your tax money to the fairgrounds for "renovations". (read more) If you attend any of Dick Walter's other shows you'll find a handy piece of paper at the main table with the three County Commissioners, which include:

Jane L. Campbell
Jimmy Dimora
Tim McCormack

This piece of paper quotes Dimora from the Cleveland Plain Dealer where he supposedly said: "The fairgrounds are beneficial to the community and they need these improvements. There hadn't been any long conversations about the fairgrounds other than the fact that there was no interest to charge the operation. We did want to remove the gun shows which the fair board resisted at first, but was eventually receptive to."

Of course they resisted, they had a binding signed contract with Dick Walters. They only gave in when the contract ran out and they could supposedly get away without renewing the contract. But here is the kicker from the sheet of paper I mentioned above:

Prior to this announcement the President of the fair board indicated that they would let the gun show return to the fairgrounds. After they received word that they would get this money they indicated the gun show could not return to the public Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to add 1+1. Imagine this hypothetical scenario: Here is 1.3 million dollars of tax payer money, make sure that gun show doesn't come back. I'm sure it was said, implied, or made very clear to the people in charge. What they don't realize is if YOU live in Cuyahoga County YOU are in charge because you vote, right?
