Letter: Guns are the solution, not the problem Follow the link above or "read more" to view the letter in full. In response to Charles Abernethy’s Feb. 27 letter, “Guns too easy to get”: People of this mind-set are wearing this excuse out. Do a little research and you will see that where there are more guns in the hands of law-abiding citizens, there is less crime. Buy and read “More Guns, Less Crime” by professor John Lott. He did extensive research of all the counties in the nation over several years, and the proof is there. People such as Abernethy need to stop listening to Tom Brokaw, Dan Rather and CNN and especially Sarah Brady and her “Brady bunch.” Don’t you realize that if not for guns, our republic would not exist? Do people think we could have sweet-talked Britain into our independence? The founders gave us the Second Amendment so that we have the right to stave off tyrants such as the ones who are trying to disarm us today. We are the militia, like it or not.

If guns cause crime, then spoons are responsible for Rosie O’Donnell’s being fat.
