For at least the fourth time since passage of Ohio's concealed handgun license law, one of Ohio's few remaining gun control extremists has praised law-breaking as a means of opposing Ohio's new concealed carry law. In a letter to Sidney Daily News editor Jeff Billiel, published June 30, Toby Hoover offers "congratulations" to the newspaper, which recently published the addresses of citizens who have obtained concealed handgun licenses from Shelby Co. Sheriff Kevin O'Leary. Dissemination of this private information is a felony, and a special prosecutor has been appointed to investigate. This is far from the first time Hoover, who fronts what often appears to be a one-woman show known as the Ohio Coalition Against Gun Violence, has praised law-breaking as a means of opposing this law. Click on the "Read More..." link below for more. On February 13, Hoover issued a press release in which she advocates a course of action that will waste our law enforcement officers' precious time, and perhaps endanger CHL-holders:
In a March 22 email alert, Ohio Coalition Against Gun Violence founder Toby Hoover encouraged city councils to pass laws enforcing bans on city-owned property, and even in private businesses:
Ohio law does not have the size and wording restrictions but we encourage cities to do a similar action. (emphasis added) ASK YOUR CITY COUNCIL TO PASS A RESOLUTION..." Hoover has also been quoted on several occasions encouraging people not to "hire, socialize, or share public space with those who carry hidden guns", and suggesting that employers should have access to lists of concealed handgun license holders when considering potential new hires! This endorsement of discrimination in the hiring process is shameful. Such continual endorsement of law-breaking is more than a little ironic, since Hoover is known for scoffing at the notion that CHL-holders are law-abiding people. Her hypocracy can be seen even clearer in the context of a press release she released in April, in which she falsely accused State Representative Jim Aslanides of law-breaking. We've said it before, and we'll say it again - those who seek concealed handgun licenses are some of the most law-abiding citizens in our society - certainly more-so than Ms. Hoover, it appears.
