Ohioans For Concealed Carry has recently signed on to a petition effort started by the Virginia Citizens Defense League.

VCDL is currently on their second draft of a Petition for Rule Making (PRM) to present to the United States Department of the Interior.

Technically, Ohioans For Concealed Carry seldom gets involved in any federal issue. However, VCDL appears to have done their homework, they've shown they're open to input and modifying the petition, and they deserve every pro-gun organization's support.

If this effort is successful, and it appears a hearing will be almost mandatory, it will impact every Ohioan who chooses to carry a firearm for self-defense. Especially if those individuals frequently visit our national parks.

Today, every National Park in the state of Ohio is off-limits to Ohioans and tourists who are lawfully licensed to carry a firearm for self-defense. Such vast amounts of public property should never prohibit lawful citizens from defending their lives in a place where counting on law-enforcement to find you quickly, let alone defend your life, is wishful thinking.

The history is available on packing.org, and the petition itself (Adobe PDF) can be read online.
