Gun banners' list of recent Ohio gun incidents speaks volumes |

Gun ban extremist Toby Hoover, who fronts what often appears to be a one-woman show at the Ohio Coalition Against Gun Violence, sent an email this week listing some of the recent incidences of gun violence around Ohio, and then went on to call for passage of an assault weapons ban in the City of Columbus.
As voluntary partners in the OCAGV's ''Changing the Culture of Fear'' push, we thought it would be interesting to note some of the many gun control laws that failed to stop these crimes from occurring (the list of gun control laws broken is by NO means exhaustive):

OHIO recent gun incidents:
Columbus: Gunfight at a bar, three shot.
It is a felony to carry a firearm in a business with a Class D liquor permit that serves liquor by the drink. Additional penalties apply to crimes committed in such establishments when a firearm is used. Signs warning of a mandatory two years in prison for violation of these laws are posted in every Class D location, but did nothing to deter these criminals.
South Columbus: Kindergartner takes moms loaded gun to school, found on bus another child picked it up and gave it to the bus driver.
Federal and state law prohibits possession of a firearm within 1000 feet of a school except for very limited circumstances. Carrying a concealed firearm without a license is a felony. Persons under 21 are prohibited from obtaining a concealed handgun license. "No-guns" signs are posted on the school building. These children could not legally purchase, own
or possess these firearms.
Dayton: Four year old shot and killed by 12 year old. Gun found in basement of home.
These children could not legally purchase, own or possess these firearms. Gun banners opposed passage of a law in Ohio which funds a comprehensive safety program for children in case they ever find a gun, simply because the program is offered by the NRA.
Dayton: 24 year old convicted of weapons charges fatally shot
It is against the law for felons to own or possess firearms. The man in question killed himself after shooting at a sheriff's deputy, another act that is prohibited by law.
Cleveland: 16 year old shot by boyfriend of carjacking owner.
These children could not legally purchase, own or possess these firearms. Carrying a concealed firearm without a license is a felony. Persons under 21 are prohibited from obtaining a concealed handgun license. Chasing and shooting at a fleeing criminal is, in nearly all cases, not going to be recognized by law enforcement as an act of self-defense. Discharge of a firearm in city limits is against the law.

Columbus: Gunfight, 23 year old dies, AK-47 found, SWAT team evacuates residents.
Actually, according to the Columbus Dispatch on Feb. 18, police have not even confirmed that an AK-47 was found. When reading the details of this story, one cannot help but wonder if this 23-year-old is one of the "children" gun banners use to inflate gun death statistics, while omitting their age, or the fact that they were killed in gang/drug related activites. Discharge of a firearm in city limits, murder, etc. is against the law.
Norton: Man sent to prison for shooting wife’s cats
Well, actually, the man was imprisoned because as a convicted felon, he was not permitted to possess or own a firearm. But then Toby never did let the facts get in her way
Now really - just what exactly does Toby Hoover believe passage of MORE gun control laws will solve, anyways?
