Ohioans are disappointed with Governor Bob Taft's job performance, and rightfully so. According to a poll published by the Plain Dealer fifty-seven of those polled rated Taft's performance in office as "poor".

Most people think his convictions are either "serious" or "very serious". Is there a difference between the two? Probably not.

Those who indicated they felt Governor Taft should resign claimed 46% of the poll, while those who feel it isn't neccesary were responsible for 44%, leaving room for the 4% margin of error to turn this into a true 50/50 split of where Ohioans stand on this issue.

Ohio gun owners know that Taft has failed them on many occasions. Taft is responsible for most of the "problems" in Ohio's concealed carry law today, including Ohio's famous "journalist loophole" that allows journlalists to request the names, birthdates and county of residence of concealed handgun license applicants. As a group we are more than likely biased towards Governor Bob Taft's performance.

The real question is should Governor Taft resign over failing to report Golf outings on campaign disclosures?

Do we as a society think an elected Governor should be responsible for every single potential reporting error, or is campaign finance reform aimed at finding those actions by public officials that were clearly intentional criminal acts or deception?

The answer might be easy if Governor Taft didn't fire or demand the resignation of others who have done the very same thing.

Saying "no, this was a simple mistake" might even be easier if Governor Taft wasn't trying to imply he discovered these infractions on his own -- and came forward on his own to report them.

Where do you stand on the issue? Take a moment today and vote on this issue -- and try to base your answer solely on the misdemeanor criminal acts that Governor Bob Taft has been convicted of so far.
