Of the four candidates vying for the Republican nomination, the three more commonly known candidates are distancing themselves from Bob Taft. Pete Draganic, a Cleveland native not being covered in most Gubernatorial race reporting, was not mentioned in the story despite being called for comments by the Plain Dealer. The Cleveland Plain Dealer recently reported that nobody is looking for Taft's endorsement.

From the story:
"When Jim [Petro] secures the nomination, we hope that all Republicans will support his campaign," said campaign chairman Bob Paduchik.
When the Plain Dealer approached Betty Montgomery's campaign, they received a similiar answer:

"It's not something we've discussed," campaign spokesman Mark Weaver said.

"She does want the endorsement of local leaders to show her grassroots support around the state."
But the quote of the day goes to Ken Blackwell, who didn't hold back when questioned by the Plain Dealer:
"The Cincinnati Enquirer labeled me the anti-Taft," Blackwell said in an interview Monday. "I think at the time, they thought that was an albatross. Little did they know it was a life raft."
When contacted by Ohioans For Concealed Carry for a comment, Pete Draganic jokingly suggested he'd rather see Bob Taft endorse one of his opponents.

To the delight of gun owners everywhere, being cozy with, or like Bob Taft, is both undesirable and a threat to any viable campaign for Governor.
