Brazilians Reject Gun Ban PDF Print E-mail

In what was toted to be landmark legislation for worldwide attempts at gun control, Brazillian voters soundly rejected a plan that would have banned firearms sales in the country.

64% of the voters were opposed to the scheme, while only 36% supported it.

Proponents claim the measure was needed to stem the violence in the country (Brazil has one of the world's highest murder rates). Fortunately, the people of Brazil realized that gun control is not the answer, and that the police can't be everywhere to protect everyone.
