An Arlington, Texas woman is crediting her gun and her firearms training for her being alive today. Susan Gaylord Buxton, 66, said she's a good shot and could have killed the man because her gun instructors taught her well. Instead, she said, she aimed for his leg and fired a second shot to warn him as he hobbled off. Buxton was letting her dog out at 12:30 am Wednesday night when she noticed muddy footprints on the back porch. She heard breaking glass and noticed household items misplaced. As she retrieved her firearm, she told her granddaughter to call 911. (Click 'READ MORE' to continue...) From the Associated Press: Clutching her gun, Buxton checked several closets, eventually opening one near the front door. She said she pulled a coat away and saw a man, then told him to get on the floor or she'd shoot. Christopher Lessner, 22, was transported to an area hospital and faces charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, evading arrest, criminal mischief and criminal trespass. He was fleeing police when he broke into Buxton's house. After being discovered and shot, he fled to another house where he was quickly captured by police. |
