Proponent testimony for HB347 lasted well into the evening (beyond 5pm) in Columbus Tuesday night as more than sixteen people testified by the end of the night and a handful more handed in written testimony in favor of HB347. OFCC president Jeff Garvas was the first person to offer testimony, but was certainly not the last! He reports that the hearing room was packed with supporters; including over 25 OFCC members wearing their blue denim shirts or similar blue shirts, in addition to many other members who did not have one. We've recently learned that so many of you showed up that the standing room only aisle caused some supporters to give up and leave the hearing way too early! Many of those who attended have recounted their experience. To read their personal accounts of the evening please check out the posts starting on page four of HB347 Hearing Tuesday - official discussion/planning thread (links to page 4). Finally, there could very well be opponent testimony next Tuesday. If you were one of the many turned away, or if you couldn't make it to today's hearing and you feel disappointed, please consider either attending the opponent hearing (We need a showing of blue shirts). If you didn't get to speak and wish to, you must wait for an interested party hearing, which could be scheduled as soon as two weeks from the proponent hearing Tuesday. THANK YOU to everyone who helped Ohioans For Concealed Carry pack this room. When entering the room Representative Patton said "you'd think you're giving something away in here". We made our point thanks to each of you who took time out of your lives, the couple who put off travel plans by a day or two, or those who took time off work to be there. |
