As we reported was in the works back in early December (Fingerhut to Enter the Fray?), anti-gun Senator Eric Fingerhut (D) announced yesterday his intent to run for Governor.
Fingerhut — former president of the Cleveland-based Handgun Control Federation — criticized Strickland’s support for the National Rifle Association’s agenda, including a bill that would "preemptively wipe off the books" gun restrictions passed by communities. He also said it was wrongheaded for Strickland to support a bill that would prohibit local governments from imposing residency requirements upon their employees. The measure passed the House yesterday and is on its way to the governor.
Referring to the residency bill and NRA agenda, Fingerhut said, "I don’t think that’s what the people of Ohio want, and I definitely don’t think that’s what voters in a Democratic primary want."

We expect Fingerhut to pose little threat to Democratic ticket frontrunner U.S. Rep. Ted Strickland, who is billing himself as a pro-gun candidate.
