Update: Despite rumors coming out of Wisconsin claiming that Governor Jim Dyle's veto of the concealed carry legislation had been overridden, we have learned that the vote failed by two votes. Last week, the Senate overrode the veto for the second time since 2003. That year, the Assembly failed to override by one vote. The override would have ended a 133-year ban on allowing Wisconsinites to carry concealed weapons, and left only three states still having such a ban. Kansas is currently considering legislation. Nebraska has a bill working through its legislature, which has the backing of their governor. The Illinois House currently has a bill to remove their ban being considered in committee. |
