A story by the Cincinnati Enquirer License for concealed weapon popular in local counties states that the licenses are popular, and goes on to quote Toby Hoover trying to spin the numbers: Toby Hoover, executive director of the Ohio Coalition Against Gun Violence, said the latest statistics show the licensing program is not as popular as Attorney General Jim Petro and others first predicted. "It still remains a very small number compared to the population," she said.Extremist gun control pundits like Toby Hoover imply that the downward trend in applications is lack of interest, when in reality every state that has implemented concealed carry has a first-year surge. Despite the aggressive numbers predicted by a few, the statistics which have beared out in Ohio are on target with other states that have successfully implemented concealed carry. As legislation such as HB347 (which is to be resplaced today by a substitute bill) is adopted by the legislature to address restrictions in the law, more people will apply for their licenses in Ohio. |
