In those races where more than one candidate is indicated as favorable to gun owners a decision between the two could not be made solely on the issue of gun rights. IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PRIMARY VOTERS Ohio’s voting laws have changed and new requirements and opportunities will begin with the May 2nd Primary. First and foremost:
· If you’ve never voted in a Primary Election before please note that you must have already been registered to vote. If you are not registered, REGISTER NOW for the November Election. It is simply too late to register for the May 2nd Primary election.
When voting in a Primary you will request a ballot by party and vote for races contested by candidates within that party. These elections choose the party’s candidate in those contested races.
· All voters must show identification at the polls. Valid identification includes:
o A Driver’s license, state ID, current utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, government check, other government documents with current name and address. Be prepared; bring more than one form of identification.
o NOT acceptable: pieces of mail from the Board of Elections, any ID with an expiration date that has passed, any ID that does not show your current address.
· Vote by mail – avoid the lines
o Starting with the May 2nd Primary absentee voting has become available to anyone, for any reason. From the Secretary of State’s website:
“A qualified Ohio voter does not have to state a reason to vote by an absentee ballot, although the ballot must be applied for in writing. If you are properly registered to vote, you must submit your written request to the board of elections of the county in which your voting residence is located. Your request must contain certain information (discussed below) and your original signature. You may, but are not required to, use the application form prescribed by the Ohio Secretary of State (Form 11-A).”
o Starting 35 days before an election any voter may obtain and complete an absentee ballot. Unlike years past, you do not need to meet any list of qualified reasons to vote absentee. If voting on Election Day is a hassle for you because of your job or your travel needs, vote absentee.
For more information on absentee voting visit the Ohio Secretary of State’s website: REMEMBER: Do not allow the deadlines imposed by absentee voting to cause your ballot not to be cast. Be sure when voting absentee that you have ample time to get your postmark or hand deliver your ballot to the proper Board of Elections. Paid for by OFCC PAC.
