Ohioans For Concealed Carry is happy to congratulate J. Kenneth Blackwell on his victory in securing the Republican nomination for Governor. "When we endorsed Secretary of State Blackwell in the Republican primary, we knew he was the best choice for Ohio gun owners," said Jeff Garvas, president of OFCC. "We are pleased to see that Ohio Republicans also feel he is the best choice for Ohio and wish him the best of luck in the general election." Blackwell won a close race, with current Attorney General Jim Petro following close behind in the polls. The next challenge before him is to face the Democratic nominee, U.S. Representative Ted Strickland. Strickland won his primary handily with around 80% of the vote and was OFCC's endorsed candidate in the Democratic primary. "OFCC endorsed only one candidate in each primary, and they both won," mused Bryan Torok, vice-president of OFCC and Treasurer of the OFCC-PAC. "That puts us in the position of again having to choose which candidate to support between two pro-gun options. As an organization, we have decided to endorse Ken Blackwell in the general election." "Blackwell has a tough fight ahead of him," added Garvas. "He will need our support in the coming months, and we're going to help him all we can." |
