Even though we hear over and over that every vote counts, many times people will stay home from the polls thinking that they along couldn't possibly swing an election.
A candidate in Castalia, Ohio has no doubt had a heart-to-heart talk with his two sons about the importance of performing your civic duty. The Democratic central committee race between Castalia residents William Crawford and Jean Miller ended in a tie, with each receiving 43 votes. Unfortunately for Crawford, his two sons had both skipped out on the election! Had either one of them bothered to vote, their father would have won. Pending the outcome of a recount, the election may need to be decided by a coin flip. That's not exactly how our founding fathers envisioned the election process being decided. Every vote counts. Make sure yours is accounted for this November. |
