The Senate Criminal Justice Committee will be holding a hearing for proponent, opponent, and interested testimony with a possible vote on Sub. House Bill 347, on Wednesday, May 24th at 9:00 a.m., in the North Hearing Room of the State House. This legislation was originally going to be voted on yesterday, May 17th. Back room politics are holding the bill in limbo, and preventing forward progress. Therefore, OFCC urges you to not only attend the hearing next week, but to use the OFCC ALET tool right now to identify who your Senator is, and then use that information to call his or her office and politely urge them to amend and pass House Bill 347 to the Senate Floor. (Don't just send the email through our website, pick up the phone and call your Senator. Leave a voicemail if you must, and remain polite) With respect to the hearing, Ohioans For Concealed Carry strongly urges all of our membership and supporters to attend this meeting wearing OFCC shirts, or if not available, blue denim or navy blue polo shirts to show solidarity. Written testimony is strongly encouraged even if you choose to read from it while addressing the committee. HB541: 3rd Hearing Tuesday!House Bill 541, the "Stand Your Ground" or "Castle Doctrine" legislation, is scheduled to receive its third hearing on Tuesday, May 23 at 2:30pm in Statehouse, RM 121. This is for Proponent, Opponent, and Interested Party testimony. Procedures for tesifying are the same as for HB347. |
